I'v been diving for 24 years so it's whats come after diving.....
Cooking as a hobby, professional photography, building computers, now teaching diving.I also used to work in broadcast tv as an editor.

I have a day job as well as a manager of a post secondary school bookstore and have my own scuba business......

Heck, isn't the rest of life just a surface interval anyway?

I cook, I bike, I add to my wine celler, and the network of computers in the house (much to my wife's annoyance.) I spend less on my wine celler these days, and I suppose I travel less. We all make choices, and I'm guessing most of the people on this board choose diving over a lot of other things. I'm just glad I married a Divemaster so I don't have to explain why I'm such a fanatic about trying to drown myself.

Downhill mountainbiking, Rock climbing, Coastguard Rescue.

Here's a 2 part question:

1- What other sports hobbies do you have?
2- How many of you do those other things a lot less or not at all since getting your cert?

I used to bike a lot, at least 3 times a week, a few hundred miles every summer. In 2000 my sister and brother in law road accross country, and I took about a month off work, flew out to meet them, and road 1000 miles in from Albuquerque to Salt Lake. Last summer I think I had the bike out about 3 times!

I play hockey too. Used to play on about 2-3 teams, was anal about my equipment. If a stick got the tiniest chip, it got a new blade, little scuff on my shield and I got a new one, retape everything before every game. Now I play one night a week, the blades on my sticks look like they've been through a wood chipper, and if my shield gets much worse I won't even be able to see through it anymore!

I keep as active as I can with a mix of whatever seems like fun at the moment. I like squash a lot. If I were to pick a realy 'hobby' outside scuba it would be squash. In my life before children I used to train martial arts but I've totally given that up now. No regrets about that. I was getting too slow anyway.... LOL

I still travel a lot but I don't know if you can call that a hobby but it's something that we all enjoy and do together.

And during the week a also spend a lot of time working. That's not a hobby but it's something that I put a lot of time and effort into.

I used to go skiing in the alps every winter...haven´t done that since I got my OW...still miss it but I guess you prioritize...Also used to do some hiking-camping-cajaking but now I just struggle to get wet more often...I do get some exercise about 3 times a week but thats only to maintain some basic level of fittness...Oh well, life´s about choices, u make them and then u live with them...No regrets! :)

I have been going to the gym about the same, 4 times a week, but I have noticed that when I increased my cardio my SAC got lower, so I have been concentrating on that aspect of it....Recently my wife and I have started a 75 gal coral reef aquarium (as my wife says, its a lame attempt at being out in it ourselves..lol)...I must admit I do like sitting there and watching...yeah I know, lame...lol

Well, as I get older the question becomes more about what I used to do before scuba diving. I used to lift weights competitively ... but as the years progressed I simply lost interest. I used to enjoy a pickup game of hockey ... and coached youth hockey for a few years ... but gave that up when I moved from the east coast to the west. I used to play a lot of basketball ... loved the sport but as I got older the injuries got more frequent and took more time to heal. That's why I got into scuba ... my wife wanted me to do something a bit safer for recreational activity. Sadly, I've gained a bit of girth since giving up the hoop activity.

I still enjoy hiking, skiing, and racing sailboats. And it's a fact that I don't do any of those things as often as I did prior to learning how to dive ... but I dive almost every day, and one only has so much time, after all.

My core sports are crew (rowing), skiing and diving. I row master competitive and it is what keeps me in shape. Once the snow hits I try to get up one night and weekend day per week. Fortunately living in Seattle it is easy to get a “quickie” dive in just about anytime. As much as I love diving it doesn’t keep you in shape. Hobbies would be the 200gallon saltwater reef tank, English Mastiff and travel.
