YOu know, ML, perhaps you have already thought of this. You could still use the weight belt and just lose the pockets?

I have. Not sure if it is the weight integration that is bothering me or what. I think something is trapping air too. Last wetsuit I rented and subsequently bought fits like a glove so I don't think it is trapping air. Still when I roll, there is a big release of air somewhere, feels like the neck or under wing. I am also still overweighted. I'm only 3 dives back so and new BCD so still working things out. First overweighted, second under, third over, yada yada yada First wetsuit was way oversized in the shoulders and upper body so wouldn't be surprised if it had trapped air. Also, was tight in the neck so I didn't zip all the way.

I'm still doing well on air but fussing way more than I'd like!:shakehead Definitely would like to lose more body weight as well. Less everywhere would feel better especially that which is causing bouyancy issues!

I am still finding my way with this new BCD so I am trying to not to make judgements about it!

One thing I am confident about with regards to it is that I will not sink. Sitting here looking at the wing as it sits on my kitchen floor. It is easily as big as one of the off-road tires on my 4WD SUV!:D

Hey if I don't like it for diving, it could always serve as a lifeboat on my sailboat!;)

lol

you'll end up in a BP/W

all roads lead there

I don't know! I am missing my Classic! My old weight belt doesn't fit anymore and I have not found one that I like yet or I'd be back in the Classic! It still fits! Just barely!

I am a very un-DIR diver! (takes cover from things being thrown!):D

Hubby leaves on AT on the 17th. I am buddyless until the 1st. Wanna dive?

BTW did you go out on AAA today?

A Henderson Titanium Hyperstretch 5/3mm hooded vest with a "Flow Valve" that doesn't work. I shelled out 150 bucks for this stupid thing when I should have done more research and bought one of those step-in vests that actually do keep you warm and run as low as 80 bucks. I used it on exactly one dive and it already starts pilling. IMHO, Henderson stuff is way overprized compared to almost all other brands out there. Considering that you can get a Pinnacle semi-dry wetsuit at almost the same price of a Henderson Hyperstretch, that's just ridiculous.

Hi, this is Brandon from Vancouver BC. I'm new here and an just getting back into diving since 2000ish when I did my advanced. I recently dove in Key Largo and think I'm hooked again.

After doing my open water in 97 I was sold on a used diving gear package from a LDS that consisted of an ill fitting wet suit, 1970s Al tank with a J valve, a chlorine bleached ex-rental Oceanic BDC and a Aqualung Conshelf 14 reg set up. All this for the bargain price of $1100.

First time out both the regs free flowed like mad and the BCD leaked from the seams and the shoulder vent. After returning to the store I quickly found out that my gear was nonrefundable, even only after a week. Little surprise that I could get a store credit but that was the only used gear they had and the next thing up was more than double what I paid.

They re-serviced my regs and told me the BCD leaks were minor enough to dive with still. The next time out both regs still free flowed like mad. This is 2 dives lost to this equipment now, and the store tells me the regs are "unserviceable." I started to wonder if this set of equipment might be solely for getting unsuspecting victims to buy into the store; meaning its never meant to work, just to get someone locked into a store credit where they have to spend double to get something that works. I wonder how many other owners this equipment had

I couldn’t dive with my equipment and I couldn’t bring myself to rent since I just dropped all this cash on my own stuff so I ended up not diving again for 7 years.

On the bright side though, maybe I can sell off my stuff on ebay for about $37.

I also recall buying some non HID lights that I was never happy with and I just recently found out that giant Rambo knives aren't cool anymore.

I just bought a Cressi BCD for a great price and am looking at buying a Mares Proton reg/octo set up. Anyone thing these are the next things I will regret? Maybe thats a different thread, lol.

This is a crime, no less. Care to share the name of that LDS?

I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point. Its been so long (7 years) that it would be tough to start a smear campaign because people change and maybe things are different now.

I emailed the store owner and asked that he make good by offering me the store credit he offered me years ago on the BCD and regs so that I can buy the new equipment I'm ready to buy now. That was a week ago and I never got a response. I know that I could leave this in the past if that were to happen but otherwise I will never deal with this store again and continue to warn others of my experience.

I reckon there has to be a "statute of limitations" on a suspect transaction. After 7 years, I suggest that you call it a "learning experience" and move on... :)

It is quite likely that, even if that LDS is still in business (unlikely if they treated other customers like they treated you), they have probably changed ownership or at least lifted their game.

Regards
Peter
