Well I just got a reg I bought off eBay. Unfortunately it turns out it is a 108 not a 109. It will still make a good reg, but I was hoping for a 109. The way it was turned in the picture I couldn't see it didn't have the knob. Live and learn. I'll be more careful next time
 
I've seen this several times.

Actually, you can tell from the hose side too: the 109 has the barrel inside across the body, so the hose fitting is parallel to the body. The 108's has a angle, sweeping to the back.
 
My main 2nd stage is a 108, I put a Miflex hose on it and I really prefer the comfort of the hose coming from an angle rather than strait across. If you do a side by side breathing comparison with a well tuned 108 and a 109 you may find there is not much difference.
