Ok I think this is the current list so far. I hope I didn't forget anyone.

Meeting time is around 8am - 9am right?

CBulla once bubbled...
My boss sent me a link to this and after reading the thread I registered so I could post! Jenny, my wife want's nothing to do with diving in the waters on this side of FL until she's been able to dive in the Keys, if you need a buddy, I'll be happy to pick up the other end of the rope! I've been talking about doing this same dive for months!!!

Wow, someone joined scubabaord just to hang out with us. That's cool! I'm glad you fond us and that you will be attending.

Hey folks - I am CBulla's Boss and I was the one that turned him on to the fact that there was this cool dive party thing happening this weekend :)

I am trying to get some gear rented so ( I know, go out and buy it already:D ) I can partake as well. Sounds like fun.

Would be nice to get wet before my trip to Roatan next week!
Gonna head out there to get my Nitrox and AOW certs, yeah!!!

So I will rent the gear and come along if you folks will have us. That is my GF and I.

Thanks Wendy! For sure will attend with 2 non divers (wife <temporarily not diving> and 6month old son :). She's addicted to shark tooth hunting on the beach, so anyone interested in gathering quite a collection of the smaller teeth should talk to her :)

A Warm Welcome to all the new arrivals! More the merrier!

CBulla-Thanks so much for the offer! I have a feeling the non divers with kiddos will be hanging out together.

Is there somebody that can teach the kids how to find the teeth? I remember somebody mentioned about bringing some screens, do we need something for the divers also besides a sock to carry the loot in?
Looking forward to meeting all!
:j

I don't mean to put a damper on the situation...but has anyone thought about the weather? I checked the forcast and it says 60% chance of rain. It's been rainging everyday here in North Port. It used to only rain at about..4:30pm..but now it's starting to come in in the morning as well.
Oooo..I'm gonna be maaaad :upset:
But then again...as long as there is no lightening right? lol. It'll just be bad for the land lovers.

Oh..and my mom will not be diving. She refuses to dive in low vis. She may or may not be there. If she is, she'll be on the beach. If not, she's just going to drop me off.

Weather may or may not be a problem. It's always a factor in diving.

I will bring a screen box for non divers to use. If others have them, please bring them.

I do sometimes use a screen box while diving for teeth, but they are not helpful in this area. There is a ton of clay in the bottom composition. Using a screen box in clay destroys any visibility we might have.

Buddies - some of you have buddies, others don't. If you do, do problem. If you don't, it'll be easy to pair everyone up Saturday morning.

Suggestions on what to bring:

1. a fine mesh bag for collecting teeth (also useful for non divers), a typical diving catch bag does not have a fine enough mesh.

2. Small containers (such as tupperware, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.) if you collect fragile items such as dead sand dollars, crab carapices, etc.

3. Screen box (not for use on dives) for the non divers.

4. Jugs of fresh water for rinsing sand off feet after the festivities.

5. Mat or rug placed behind the car to serve as a place to set up/break down gear (keeps off sand).

6. Sunscreen

7. Hat, cap or Dee rag

8. Food

9. Drinks

10. Dive flag with float and line.

11. Fish ID books

12. Sunglasses

13. Method to secure car keys (I tie mine around my neck with a shoestring).

14. No wetsuit! The water is hot! A wet suit will cause over heating unless you chill extremely easily.

15. Compass.

16. Towels (at least 2 per person)

17. Change of clothes.

18. Buddy line, if you have one.

I ho[pe this helps. See you on Saturday morning!

De-bill-itated...

What do you call a duck who can't walk???

De-feeted, of course!

What do you call a duck with no feathers???

De-tailed!

What do you call a duck who can't see???

Den-eyed!

What do you call a domestic duck???

De-natured!

What do you call a duck at night???

De-lighted!!!

What do you call a duck with no internal organs???

De-livered!

What do you call a duck with no lips???

A duck, silly! Everyone knows that ducks don't have lips!

What do you call Walter and Wendy after I just hijacked their thread with these inanities???

Irritated! :tease:

Lastly, what do you call NetDoc???

De-mented!

If I keep volunteering my wife she's going either a) sign up for the board or b) not get my tanks from the shop and tell me to "snorkel it bucko!"

If I understood her correctly, she wouldn't mind showing the wee ones how to look for teeth. In fact, I believe we have a ton of plastic bags from the supermarket that could be used for the wee ones found treasures!

Weather is to be inclimental, but if it follows suit with today and yesterday it will have stopped by midday and we'll have the shade of the clouds.

I also happen to have a length of screen at home, I'll see what I can do to rig up a sifting box or two. Does anyone have any gallon milk jugs to make into scoops? Colanders work out good for little sifters. :)

Walter, awesome suggestions ;)
