O.K, fair enough. Could I please have the town in which it will be held, so I can get directions/plan my own accomodations? thanks much. I look forward to meeting you as well as others at the BBQ.

We haven't secured the spot yet. The one we are looking at is in Clear Lake, Texas.

Although I just found a new possible spot today that I'm going to look into, and will ask Dee to look at with me.
It's also a covered area, and only 30 minutes away from the convention center.
We will keep you updated in this thread.

You can count me in. I like the original location alot but wherever it is I will be there.

Natasha, may I suggest looking at Tom Bass Regional Park I or III. It's only about 15 miles from downtown Houston vs about 25 miles to the Clear Lake park. It located close to 288 and beltway 8. I believe it would be much easier for those that may be staying close to downtown plus it'll be easier to get to in regards to traffic. It may be just perfect for what we are looking for.

Of course Memorial Park would be closest to downtown, but it might be just a wee bit crowded for my taste.

Anyway here is some contact information if you want to look into it, or if you want I can check into it as there has been dive club activities held there in the past.

One more thing, the Wings Over Houston airshow is that weekend, and the USAF Thunderbirds will be headlining. Could mean very heavy traffic getting to Clear Lake from downtown.

HI Greg:
Since I am new to Houston, Dee will have the last say on where this will be held.
We will have to wait for her to ring in.

P.S. I went to Wings over Houston last year. It was great! I plan to go again, but probably on Sunday.

I've always wanted to go to Wings over Houston, but I hate the traffic. I'll cnsider going this year because of the Thunderbirds.

I am definately in for a true texan bbq, my previous experience with Houston left me with a less desirable impression.

I will need GPS coordinates of any proposed bbq location, or meeting place and time near the DEMA convention center and shared transport.

One other thing. Out of the only two reasons in the world I can think of going to Houston for (DEMA being one of them), I have always wanted to dive in the zero gravity tank at NASA. Who can organize this for me??? How much will it cost??

C'mon all you Texans on the board, someone has got to be able to help me with this. I promise to stop telling texan jokes.... Honest....

That's one you may have to take up with NASA. I have no idea if they allow anyone from the general public to dive there, but I rather doubt it. You'll have to do a Google search for the NASA/LBJ Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston to find a contact number.

HEY,

I am not just a member of the general public! I am a member of Scuba board!!!!!!! That has to count for somthing! :eyebrow:

Dee:
I know it's still 6 months away but I'm mentioning it now because we need an idea of how many of you Swampers are interested in going.
Question: Is this a TSD function only or are other SB-ers welcome?
