I just added a length of 1/4" bungie cord to my list of necessities. On a boat in Cozumel, the bungies used to secure the tanks were largely decrepit. A DM "secured" my tank/BCD/weights with one that broke when we hit a wave. My tank crashed to the deck, luckily not hitting anyone, but the first stage was knocked off and the first stage filter was dislodged and lost. In addition, the rectangular metal bracket (the yoke knob screws into it) was bent and had to be replaced. The bungie is a general purpose item (2" diam loop on the end of an 18" cord) that will help solve a variety of problems that may arise, including being an emergency fin or mask strap.

Thanks for posting the original link. I keep forgetting to look this up and you reminded me.
