"she suffered as painful a death as medical science could provide"
I would concur. Chemo and radiation devastated her, but she started to recover slowly. Then the cancer came back and with a vengeance.

Update: my sister passed away this morning at 7:10 am. I lost my fiercest supporter and best friend. She was an amazing person, had two sons and lived a wonderful life. She was an accomplished horticulturist, devoted mother, and we saw eye to eye on most everything. She really loved her kitties and now I have 4 1/2 to deal with without her.

I thought I was ready for this... but I was not.

So sorry to hear. Your family is in my thoughts.

+1. You are welcome to call and chat. I have not been in your situation, so have no advice to give, but I still care about you.

Pete, I am so sorry for you and your family. I know words can never be nearly enough, but you surrounded her with love till she could go no further. Take what comfort that you can from that, and that she suffers no more. Finally letting go is achingly hard, but necessary.

Wish I could be there to offer you a solid hug and shoulder. Doesn't matter that we don't see eye to eye on things. Take care friend.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have been in your shoes far too often, and you are right in saying that no matter how prepared you think you are, when that moment comes, it is no less devastating.

Know that there are a lot of people here whose thoughts you will be in. Try to find peace in the knowledge that although you are suffering at her loss, her suffering is now over.

Sorry to hear it, Pete. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Im sorry man. :(

So sorry to hear that Pete. Having been through something similar with parents and a friend, when the end finally happens, it's still a shock. Take your time to grieve, then try to remember the good times , and that she is now at rest and no longer hurting.
