I'm a Fish!
no custom GF until the Tech + level
You gotta be kidding, right? "Custom GF" for the beginner version at the price they are selling it for? First, they have "pre-set" GF's in their entry level computer and they show you the values in a table they publish just so you know what GF you are using as you set the conservatism factor (for those they know what GF is and how to use it which is a very minute minority of divers out there).

For those that want the all features for full technical divers, you either buy the Tec+ version from the beginning or buy the entry level version as you are a "recreational" diver and upgrade the computer's software for more features. No other company in the world does this for you, you buy what you need and upgrade the software as you need the added features/capabilities without having to throw away the hardware, just update the software.

proprietary transmitter
ALL transmitters are "proprietary." If you want to use somebody's transmitter or the technology it is using, you have to pay them a licensing fee.

These seem to be the same prices I have seen before
When they had specials on the older versions of their computers perhaps.

I doubt this. The PPS transmitters -- the most common and probably most reliable -- have no way of knowing what devices are listening to their transmissions.

My friend,

Divers on SB are a little more sophisticated than the average. I do only NDL diving and light deco. I dive 80/95. SurfGF is very useful for both my NDL diving and the light deco. I have not surfaced with a GF greater than 80 since buying my Teric in 2019. PPS MH8A transmitters or the Shearwater compatible work for many brands of computer

Maybe I will have the opportunity to dive a Ratio computer someday.
