Could a failure be related to increased Oxygen %?

To see if repeated heating (sun exposure) and cooling cause the break down as suggested by Andy. But more coz I'm bored, curious and am reliving elementary school science.

Oh, okay, carry on.

On these hoses with the "crumbly" interior sleeve, do they feel extra floppy? My genuine laser etched Miflex hoses actually have a little body to them and they of course will not kink. If the inner sleeve is broken down, will the hose kink? If so this could be a test for hose integrity, in lieu of you guys actually cutting hoses up. Which, believe it or not, usually causes them to leak ;).

All of my Miflex hoses, again, purchased over several years, came in a nice plastic envelope and are laser etched Miflex, dated and have other info on the fittings. They are not stamped MFX. So, until we understand if in fact MFX/mfx is a stamping for earlier genuine Miflex brand hoses (made in Italy) then I am going to be suspect they are not Miflex brand.

My "MFX" hose came in a waterproof reusable plastic bag marked "MIFLEX2" and "Xtreme" and "www.miflexhoses.co.uk" The bag also has an XSscuba label stuck on it with the obligatory US cautions and torque specs.

I suspect it is genuine Miflex.

What is the date on the hose?

Checked some of my other hoses. This one is marked MFX date stamped 2006, came in a Miflex Extreme reusable bag with Velcro closure with an XS Scuba sticker on it purchased from DGX:

I think there is little doubt that the failed hose/s as reported by Andy are in fact Miflex.

What are the makers of these hoses saying ????

Jim...

If that is the case, I would stop using any allegedly Miflex hoses designated MFX stamping until Miflex responds. At the same time, I would continue to use with confidence the laser etched Miflex hoses of more recent manufacture.

I return to (one of) my question, if we have at our disposal, a degraded hose, will it kink?
