Be sure to let your bank know that you will be using cards outside of the US before you do, or they may stop your cards.

LOL...Since 2000, I never needed to inform my bank of my travels ...:)they know better. But thanks for the consideration.

BTW....They will now send you a text asking if you just made a purchase...Chase does this for my wife's account. 1 for yes, 2 for no .....

Since this post is dated....89 Peso to the USD...LOL, I need to ask.

Cozumel FAQ's - Weather, Water temps, Dive Operators, Taxis, and More

I assume 8 of us can get a dedicated white van at the airport to the hotel? Also, is this per person fare if you book the whole van? I cant remember...I know its PP if just two of you or so book the ride/share. I emailed, but I do not believe our resort (Occidental) offers transfers?

Airport vans are per person, whether it's 1 of you or 100 of you.

No, that is not allowed by the taxi union, which also runs the airport vans. Only three ways to leave the airport.
  1. Airport van.
  2. Rented car.
  3. Walk - and some do walk across the parking lot to the street to hail a cab. Sometimes the cops hassle the cabs so that they can't.
Since there are 8 of you together, follow ReefHound's suggestion and buy 8 van tickets and logically the organizer outside will load you all in a private van. No need to pay extra for a private van as described on the other thread. Well, logic doesn't always work, but it would be foolish for the organizer to split you up. Do watch your bags loading to make sure they all get on. For shared vans, I get out at every stop to watch, ensuring my bags don't get left at the wrong place.

We have a group of 6 going soon and plan on walking out of the airport to grab a couple of taxi's. we are not going to a hotel but are staying at a freinds place about 3 blocks north of the waterfront. hope we can get taxi's without any problems.

Thanks...anyone know the current PP van charge? should i use Pesos?

I believe it is 96 pesos per person.

I don't remember the exchange rate they were using, but it was worth using pesos.

Depends on where you're going. The old rate for downtown was 57, probably went up, south & north hotel zones 96, southern resorts 114-141, plus the increase. Pesos are best if you have them, but 96 Pesos is $5 Usd at best, so the most you might pay would be $8-10.

Thanks Don, I wasn't thinking.

96 pesos was to Hotel Coz. Pay in pesos either way, though.

Thanks...heading south to the Occidental.

Ok pesos are better if you have them. Dollars work if you dont.
