What do the words on the charts say? I found the charts but don't understand.
Ok, here is what I get on google...

Tarifa entre las diferentes zonas hoteleras norte y sur = Rate between the different hotel areas north and south
The minimum is 75 pesos, or about $3.75 Usd if you pay in pesos. If you pay in Usd, they'll use 10:1 I bet.

Tarifas en zonas de la poblacion = Rates in areas of the population
That minimum is 26 Peso, or a little over a buck if you pay in Pesos. Yeah, right - I can see a tourist getting charged that - nope! I'm sure they charge hotel rates to tourists anywhere, or more if they can.

If you use USD in Mexico, where the legal tender is the Mexican peso you're asking, no, you're begging, for a crappy exchange rate.

Let me make a distinction here. There's charging for a ride, and there's paying for a ride.

Know what the fare is. Arrive at your destination, pay the fare, thank the driver, and get out. The End.

Actually I believe that the taxi union had an 'official' exchange rate that I thought was 13.5MXN to 1USD, I was wondering if if they had increased that rate.

That "$" in the chart is Pesos?

I'm just going to hit the ATM for taxi money....I'll use good old plastic for everything else.

Definitely going to hit some of fav restaurants via taxi.....were pretty far south this time.

Thanks for your replies.

Be sure to let your bank know that you will be using cards outside of the US before you do, or they may stop your cards.

Since this post is dated....89 Peso to the USD...LOL, I need to ask.

I assume 8 of us can get a dedicated white van at the airport to the hotel? Also, is this per person fare if you book the whole van? I cant remember...I know its PP if just two of you or so book the ride/share. I emailed, but I do not believe our resort (Occidental) offers transfers?
