Hi - I wanted to buy a dive watch computer and I saw an Aeris XR-1 Wrist Computer for about $150.00 online at Leisure Pro. I don't need anything fancy - just something to record my dives, give me the water temp, my total down time, safety stops, let me know when I can go back in the water for my second dive and for how long, etc.......

Is this a dependable dive watch - like I said I don't want to spend a lot of money and it doesn't have to be a fancy pants watch. I'd appreciate any advice anyone could give me.

Thanks!
:D

You might want to stop into a shop and review gear choices. Is this computer nitrox ready? Should you also have a bottom timer? etc, etc....

What up qtdivergirl, check out the xr-2 i just bought a couple there easy to read, basic and can do nitrox to 50%, built in dive tables, i like it better that xr-1.

i did dive with the xr-1 a couple of weeks ago -mine were not in yet....if price is a factor xr-1 should be fine. read the manual a couple of time and play with it on a shallow dive so you can understand it.

I really like some of the Oceanic computers - have two as a matter of fact. I tend to go with the VT3 the most. It had a lot of features that I thought I could do without at first. But now, I really appreciate all that it can do. By the way - your bio is great!

How much are the XR-2? Price is definitely a factor for me since I have two kids that suck the money and the life out of me! Does the XR-2 come with, or can you purchase, a USB cable for the computer? The XR-1 doesn't have that feature and it would be a cool feature to have

For as little as $225 you may be able to get into a model like the VEO180 from Oceanic that will do Nitrox or Air, has a backlight, and has an audible alarm. All those are features the XR1 does not have and IMO are worth every penny of $50-70 dollars. Keep in mind you can't add features later. To get these features in the Aeris model look at the XR1 NX
