Oh, a bonfire would be nice. I was actually debating the merits of having a BBQ in Golden Gate Park when the new aquarium opens in the fall.

Seriously, I don't mind being the organizer - and I have tried to be fair with respects to everything, everyone and every consideration. I have always been a bit "tied" though since I only have personal experience at a few sites - not like some of you "old salts" that have a bit more experience with the various sites, conditions, etc.

I started doing these simply because (1) I was sick of only knowing some of you as "wdunne", "micboucher", etc. and knew I'd like you all if you could just get our butts in gear and (2) I knew that some people are newer divers, don't have buddies, etc. We are a good group of people and so it would be nice if these things continued. So - if someone wants to start a new thread and we'll get planning on April or May, that is OKAY with me!

Year so far:
March - M&G at Lobos
April -
May - dive?
June -
July - dive?
Aug -
Sept - M&G with the SoCal peeps

That'd be in keeping with my attempts to get a M&G every couple of months.

Good morning all. One part of me says not to respond. But there are some valid points to Jim's posting, and so, I will. And since Jim publicly posted, so will I. But how?

Here's my gut reaction - Jim - you are right about somethings and you have some valid points. But at the same point, I don't keep making it anything. In fact, this is EXACTLY what makes me want to throw my hands up in the air and say "You know what - f___ it. I am not going to organize or even suggest anything ever again."

There, that's that. Jim, I acknowledge what are you saying and can understand why you or anyone else would be frustrated. But I also hope that you (or anyone else who knows me on here or in real life) should know me well enough to know that (a) I am a good person, (b) I don't pick somewhere willy-nilly and (c) It would never be my intention to exclude divers. I have always tried to work with group consensus to find a date and site that works for everyone, that takes into consideration the varying skills of the divers who want to be involved (newer v. technical divers), etc. etc. etc. NO plan will ever be perfect for every single person. It is simply not possible.

The 3/15 date at Lobos resulted from the inability to get even a few reservations in January, resulting in some of us losing the reservations we did have. No biggie. I am glad that the NorCal-people got to use them. But – the 3/15 date came out WAY in advance of the Lobos Calendar being open and so those people who wanted to make it – knew what to expect and knew when they needed to make their reservations. Yes, it is luck of the draw, but I can’t control that.

To those divers who did not get a reservation – I am very sorry. If we can’t manage to get you in – please read the posts and see who else does not have a reservation, contact them and see if they want to dive another site.

I am NOT making anything. I am simply being the messenger. It is really saddening to me to start my day having to defend myself, my actions, - when I have simply been trying to help people have fun, make new friends and dive buddies.

So, for right now, I am giving up on organizing these things. I have too much going on in my OWN life to deal with it, so someone else can take the reigns if you want. Sorry it came to this, but I just didn’t really need to be called to the carpet.

Sarah

OH....... Boy....

I am affraid I completly mislead/confused you on my point!!

Very sorry, I was not meaning to attack you in anyway!

I VERY much appoligise!!

No need to apologize. Just buy me a drink next time we hang out.

Sarah
Thank you for the effort you put into getting these things going.

Jim
The fact we had 3 mos. advanced notice to plan for lobos should have resulted in all 15 reservations going to our group. Thats 30 divers! how many did we have in January? 15? If anyone didn't plan to get a reservation and now is crying about not being able to get in all I can say is, where were you on January 15th when we put in our requests?

I tried to make it easy for people without reservations to get together with those with extra space by posting a thread for that purpose. Unfortunately only a few utilized it. No one asked Sarah to do this she took it upon herself to do something for us to all get together, for that she deserves our thanks. If you can't get into Lobos, I hope that you come down anyway and meet us at Giannis. Who knows maybe we can go out and make a nite dive together after dinner.

I agree we need to plan for alternate sites, maybe we can agree on a specific weekend, like the second weekend of each month, put it on the planning calander and then have an alternate member take care of the planning duties so one person doesn't get burned out?

Ron .

You are so DAMN far off of the point that you dont even know what the hell you are talking about.

OKAY.................

HERE IS THE POINT IN LAYMENS TERM'S !!

And yes RON AND DAN YOU HAVE PISSED ME OFF!!

PIONT BEING.

Sarah has put together something that is so great and has become such a big hit with everyone that it even on the very first outing totally out grew Lobos.

Now and not concerning me, there are a buch of people (Not Me) that are now finding out about this and would like to start joining in the future but there will be no way to get everyone into Lobos

And Ron for your snide Azz remark there where 22 people last time NOT I REPEAT NOT including the people that where down on the jetty that didn't catch up to us, AND The many that didn't come Beacause they thought they could not because it was at lobos.

Main Point, Sarah... Kudos to you !!

You have put together one of the most popular gatherings that I know of!!

Okay - I am going to say this and then lets move on. This will always be a problem with respects to Pt. Lobos. I felt badly about this back in January, hence the change of venue. I feel badly again this time - but I can't keep feeling badly. I am glad that people like to come, and that people have a good time at these M&G - trust me, it has been a really great experience for me and so being able to share it with others is awesome. But at this stage, there is very little that we can do it about it now except what we are already trying to do (buddy people up, etc).

I agree with Ron and everyone else - we should alternate dates, locations, etc. So, I am going to start a thread for future planning and we'll go from there. See: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/norcal/222850-norcal-m-g-planning-thread.html

Planning is moving forward from this point on.

Now ........... I am going to work on creating a MASTER LIST of people for this event to see what can be done. So............

***** IF YOU HAVE RESERVATIONS: Can you please PM me with your buddy's name? If you don't have a buddy but you have a reservation, please let me me know. If you have more than one reservation, can you please let me know.

***** IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A RESERVATION: Please PM me and let me know. I will see if I can't work something out. I will see what can be done but am not making any promises.

THANK YOU!

Love to you all,
Sarah

We have two reservations with four people coming. I know of another dive team that will be there, that has not posted up, but they may not be following this thread.
