This comes from a guy who runs an annual club dive at Pt. Lobos. 2008 will be the thirteenth year,
and most years we've had all the spots. And I make a whole bunch of reservations for just myself.
1. If you make the reservations just after midnight (I do this for the club dive), you are very likely
to get them.
2. If you make the reservations at 6:30 a.m. (I do this for my own reservations), you are still likely to get them. 28 times in 2007 and I might have got beat out on one or two.
3. If you aren't willing to get up early, you don't deserve to dive Lobos.
4. This is the most pertenant: there's always a lot of churn the last week. People get sick, get
pregnant (had that happen twice), get shipped off by their boss to some first, second, or third
world country. I usually end up having to scramble a bit on Friday night to fill the last couple of
spots the next morning. So, have a good list of the "I wannas".
And how about picking a day when the tides allow me to lauch my boat. ;-)
