Don't marry that witch...

Ouch...my other one (in addition to Microsoft) would have been "marry that one" when I was a young terminally hip, slick and cool entertainment lawyer in LA after more than just a few dates in the mid-late 80s with a young, nutty, singer-songwriter (who eventually turned out to be "the" Sheryl Crow in the end)...oh well...

I would have payed zero attention to the Mullah Divers (do it my way or you'll die) on this board.

I would have told myself that diving is as much about emotion and sprit as it is about technique and protocol. Don't be a perfectionist or you'll kill the joy.

R..

This is exactly the way I feel too Rob. That doesn't mean you can't be a superb diver but for some, the perfection of technique and protocol IS the joy. Can't really fault them for that.

would have bought a hog harness and BPW right off the start and saved myself the cost of first a jacket BC and then an adjustable harness bc (twice!) and had the extra money to spend on diving trips.

ind someone who REALLY knows how to dive, and then do whatever it takes to get them to agree to mentor you.

Scubafool nailed it.

Of course, I DID find somebody who knew how to dive, and he DID mentor me . . .

I guess the one thing I wish I had known when I got my OW cert and didn't was that it wasn't either normal or necessary to be as incompetent as I was at that point -- That it could have been fixed. And I didn't know how to fix it, and the people who were teaching me weren't particularly concerned about it and weren't helping me improve very much.

Very little I wasn't told by someone (most likely my father) at the time and chose for some reason or other to ignore.

I should have moved to Florida when I was planning to about 13 years ago. I am a WWW.

Get weight and bouyancy right first! Everything else comes much easier after that.

Oh, and learn to dive about 20 years earlier! :D

Buying Microsoft stock when I first thought about it would have been a wise move. I could really afford some awesome dive travel now if I had.

Buying a house (or more) here on Catalina when I first moved to the island. They were as low as $12,000 back then and are now $600,-700,000. I could really afford some awesome dive travel now if I had.

After two potentially fatal incidents in one day in the 1970's flying back from Chicago, I stopped flying commercially for 22 years. I could have really done some awesome dive trips over that period if I had just jumped back on the horse!

However, if I had married a woman I was deeply in love with back in 1973, I probably would have stopped diving so...
