I could say many things here about my personal life that I would have done different but the OP was about diving, looking back now, I would do it all the same because it has all been sooooo good! I even have fond memories of being scared half out my mind the first time I dove (I dove many times without C card) I wish I had gotten certified 20 years before I finaly did.
 
Working on a dive boat is an excellent thing to do, regardless of how profoundly I get seasickness. Also that going someplace pretty and having amazing experiences is more important than most boyfriends- and that having a dog greatly reduces the ability to go to said pretty places.

Started my diving instruction back in '69.

Just wonder where I'd be now had I completed the cycle way back then.

I would have told myself that diving is as much about emotion and sprit as it is about technique and protocol. Don't be a perfectionist or you'll kill the joy.
