LOOK it is pretty easy, if your worried lock your doors, get an alarm installed, and stay home! Oh ya and don't get lost on the way to the airport in Philly, LA, and a lot of other major cities! I have yet to see anyone "Laying in Wait" to break into your vehicle at a dive site! I am happy to take simple precautions to protect my gear!

Now let me say this as well, when I was learning to dive in 1972 along the California Coast my instructor warned us NOT to put dive stickers on our cars because the locals would break into your car along PCH because they would know you were a diver and gone! Maybe the LAPD or Orange County SO where in on it with the thieves? Maybe HBPD? Maybe the would call a friend when they saw you go in the water! Makes as much sense as the Bonaire Haters explanation! :idk: :rofl3::rofl3:

Baby Bear, keep those windows down, doors open and unlocked, spare tire in your closet at the hotel, hide the truck battery, take your wife's jewelery in a case and put it around your neck, leave your passport, wallet and money at a safe at a bank in town, and go shore diving on Bonaire. It is a shame that you have to travel by plane, pay for the rental truck, hotel fees and all the rest of it to be that unsafe. Enjoy.

the central bureau of statistics (CBS Amsterdam) reported zero Theft from car crimes for the year 2006. That has to tell you how reliable and accurate their reporting is.

And where did you get those numbers as they are not in the report....

Veracity is very valued on this board. YOU NEED TO REALIZE THAT.:shakehead:

please, this is extermely bogus. First no link that works, then it's in another language, then it gets "roughly" translated and you never know who ordered the survey and what type of questions were asked. For all we know the Bonaire "police" could have fudged those numbers. Give us a break. Central bureau of statistics (CBS Amsterdam) Who are they, an arm of the Board of Commerce for bonaire?:rofl3::rofl3:

You must think we rolled off a turnip truck.:eyebrow:

Since the oficial language of Bonaire is Dutch is only normal for this report to be in Dutch. You know, not the entire world speaks English (I do my best).

If you don't trust the CBS I wonder who you might trust.
The CBS exists in almost every country and conducts surveys to monitor what's going on in society. All publications are scientifically sound and peer reviewed.
I don't see how the police could have tempered with it, since these are not police figures?

It doesn't say 0, it says -. Which I hope you realise means: not available.
Furthermore these are police numbers and therefore, as I've stated before less reliable... (as in any country).
When studying any crime related subject academics don't rely on the police figures but on victim surveys.

I second that...

No, I do not trust those figures and neither should anyone else that does not own a business or rental properties on Bonaire.

Not available? Car theft crimes not available? Just how dumb do you think we are?:rofl3::rofl3:
