What kind of seas will the KW boats go out in? 4-6 is still diveable where I am from. Do you think Sat will be blown out?

You may find a boat, but with the forecast I would bet the weekend is a wash. 20 knots from the south usually shuts down everyone. Believe me...4-7s in the Keys sucks....

7 FEET...EXCEPT HIGHER IN THE GULF STREAM. SEAS INSIDE THE REEF 2 TO
3 FEET. NEARSHORE WATERS ROUGH. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

THE REEF 2 TO 3 FEET. NEARSHORE WATERS ROUGH. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS.

SUNDAY
EAST WINDS 15 TO 20 KNOTS. SEAS BEYOND THE REEF 4 TO
7 FEET. SEAS INSIDE THE REEF 2 TO 3 FEET. NEARSHORE WATERS ROUGH.

When it's 4 feet the dive boats down here in the keys act like they're on America's Most Dangerous Catch or whatever that show is called. In the northwest that's considered flat. Some will go out but......

Updated forecast for the east coats. It has gone to pretty darn good to pretty darn crappy. I figured it would. Why? Because it is Florida and a three day weekend. Cold fronts and big summer storms only come on weekends.

And now Fla is a samich between 2 storms! Ugh. Of course the year i finally get my cert done, will be the most active year in the Gulf. God doesnt like me lol. Im just cursed for everything I do. So which way do we think Hannah will go? Cruise along the east coast then cross over to the west coast, then meander around ruining yet another weekend off? So how thick of a wet suit do we dive in for Nov? I m thinking thats the only time we going. Dont we have a turkey diving party then?

You might want to consider calling the dive shops to get the most accurate wind and wave conditions. From personal experience, owning a dive shop for 5 years and diving for 38, the forecast are just that forecast or predictions, NOT actually conditions.

For the Upper Florida Keys any winds out of an Easterly direction, NE/E/SE, with winds 20kts plus will produce higher seas and we start getting concerned for the safety of our divers.

Today we have winds out of the NE at 15kts and the seas are 2ft inside the reef and 4ft on the wrecks. If the winds increase then so will the seas.

Remember getting off the boat is easy, getting back on the boat in high seas is a big deal.

Good Diving,

Based on what the dive shop (not to name names but it's Quiescence) told us today from looking at the weekend forecast, we decided to proceed with our dive vacation as planned. I guess we'll take our chances. The fact that the motel wouldn't give us a refund of our deposit, and the airline will charge us to change ticket dates, had some influence on our decision.

Plan is still to fly to Miami on Saturday, drive to Largo, and see whether the boats will be going out on Sunday and Monday. Based on the forecast, we may have to sit on the sidelines on Sunday, but Monday looks promising.

Looks like Gustov is going to be a Cat 4 soon. It's already a Cat 3.

Wonderful. Heading out to Largo today for the long-planned Labor Day dive vacation. As of yesterday at least, dive shop was just sort of shrugging and saying "wait and see--marine forecast doesn't look that bad so far." Nothing like flying out, renting a car, driving an hour, then finding ourselves holed up in a motel room for two days. Well, off to the airport!
