German tanks in US….DOT cert

Hey…I have a tiny doubles twin set I brought back to the US from Germany. They are great tanks but don’t have a DOT markings. My local shop put them into service but is not sure he can hydro them when they are due.

Any ideas on this? If anything, the European certs are more stringent than US.

what size are these? 7L?
where in the US are you?

perhaps you could sell them to someone like me who already owns a compressor

They are 8.5 liters each. 230 Bar…well, actually the tank is like 300+ bar or something but the valves are ~230. I’d have to go double check.

As said, if you have access to a non-commercial compressor you can fill them. If a hydro shop has the correct fitting they can be hydro tested. But they can not be stamped.

My super sweet, yet illegal tanks. Still don’t know why they won’t accept European certified tanks here. I get third world, but germans make some sweet stuff. Even the Italians used German O2 tanks when they climbed K2 instead of their leaky Italian ones.

Anywho…8.5L, 232 Bar paper weights.

It seems that the valve is M26X2, is the valve DIN thread the same as the normal DIN thread? Will a standard DIN first stage connector work with it?

A friend of mine took a couple of US made HP100s to the UK about five years ago, nobody will touch them. He's now returning to UAE and shipping them back.

There's no recognisable compatible standards between the US and UK/EU for tanks apparently.
