A couple of posts in this thread allude to the heap of trouble the missing diver will be in , if he is found alive (including one of mine). Really, if he just took off, he really did not commit any crimes. I guess you could get him for littering by leaving his gear, or illegal parking. Maybe property damage if you can prove the lock issue. He would certainly be a pariah in the dive community though.

Stop judging history by today's standards

I'm not. And I'm not talking about the progressive things Sheck did, or the rules he created for those that followed after him. I don't know why it's so hard for you to understand, or why you feel you have to deny it - Sheck did some crazy stuff that even by the (almost) non-existant standards of the time was frankly ****ing stupid EVEN IN THOSE DAYS OF NO RULES

Fortunately he lived through them and went on to do some great things and create some rules and guidelines that are still used in cave diving today. That's awesome. Doesn't make what I'm saying untrue no matter how pig-headed you want to be about it

For those of you that aren't able to comprehend it yet, I'm not justifying the actions of the missing diver, or saying that cave training isn't necessary, or any other BS that you want to imagine I'm implying

He sure did. One time at Peacock, I saw him eat an egg sandwich that was sitting in his car for 3 days!:D

Then what on earth are you rambling on about?

If you two don't stop your trying to prove who has the bigger package this thread is going to get closed or moved. Stop locking horns already and let things roll please.

I know it's hard to imagine.....but life will go on even if this thread gets closed. All of our respective lives will be less meaningful but we will endeavor to persevere.

I'm explaining a throwaway comment about Sheck Exley that I made 50 posts ago which is apparently more worthy of discussion than the thread topic in some people's eyes

There was no source of information like yourself or SB on what was or wasn't stupid either

Fortunately for us mere mortals we have your wisdom to rely on now /bow

It wasn't because you compared Sheck with the thread topic on hand?
