let me just tell little mr sparticlebrane something. Don't get on here and chew me out about posting too many threads. What do you care if I post ONE or 50 more threads about fins. Its not your place to judge me. By the way are you trying to stalk me or something my keeping up with how many threads I post about a certain subject. If you don't like the fact that I have posted three threads about this then find something else to read with your spare time. I have been on this site most of the day and there are plenty of things to read so don't come in here on my post and bash me about something that is really not doing any harm to you. I dont mean to be ugly but DANG dude you don't have to pms over the whole thing. SO ONCE AGAIN I SAY THAT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT THEN FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR SPARE TIME.

Whoa, buddy. Calm down. :coffee:
  • No one is chewing you out for posting too many threads, nor is anyone judging you. We would just appreciate that they're posted in the corresponding forums. I promise you'd get more thoughtful responses if they're in the correct forums.
  • No one is stalking you, but I do have enough of a memory to remember the most recent threads I've posted in.
  • Paragraphs. Not just for breakfast anymore.

I am thinking of purchasing the automic aquatics maybe around the first of the year. Just wondering what your opinion of these fins are?

Thanks,
Michael

They fall into the "some swear by them and some swear at them" category.

Definitely try them in a pool or better yet borrow a pair for a dive before plunking down the big$$.

I had a pair and ended up selling them to stick with my Aeris Velocities which are a hybrid.

Well I just don't take to kindly to someone who doesnt even know me bustin' my chops over something that doesn't make a hill-a-beans. People just seem to make a big deal over nothing Thats all

I agree. ;)
Really -- there isn't any reason to get irked over this. I was merely saying that if you posted questions about fins in the fins forum, you would probably get better responses. :) Yes, I'm sure less people would see it, but it's more of a "targeted audience" thing.

Suddenly they're no good now, but they were good 30 years ago? :shakehead:
Jetfins are great. I refuse to use another fin.
Jetfins are still great fins, even mine which are actually more than thirty years old. But if you refuse to try any other fin you'll never know how much better Jetfins are.:D

Heh. Good point.
I started with Cressi Frog fins. They are...borderline for frog kicking. They are a bit stiffer than most fins out there but they're definitely not Jets.
During a dive a few months ago a friend and I switched fins (mid dive) so he could try out my Jets. I used his Mares Volo fins (I think?) while he tried mine. They were utterly useless, especially for frog kicking. They bent in the middle of the fin during the kick, so they produced no thrust.

Splits are fine for people who want to silt up the bottom and who have no kicking technique. I see them as a crutch.

Really, there are lots of good fins out there, some are better for some thing than others, in all honesty I really like Jets, but that's not because they're the best fin going ... I think that Jets are second best for everything, which is no small accomplishment.

I guess I better get me a pair of them thar Jet flippers.:D

Scubaboard should be split into three seperate boards:

Scubaboard A-- for the BP/wing wearing, DIR forever, JetFins rule paddle fin frog kickers who use a V planner and everything secured with bungee and cave line and who like each thread properly catagorized.

Scubaboard B-- for the poodle jacket wearing thermoplastic split fin flutter kickers with computers and wireles transmitters and everything on a retractor and who like to start multiple threads about which gizmo I should get in the wrong forums.

Scubaboard C -- for normal people ;).
