To the Tune of Stevie Wonders 'Superstition'

Spanish Inquisition, writing's on the wall.
Spanish Inquisition, the unexpected call.
Poked you with soft cusions but you refused to talk.
They tried the comfy chair but you continued to balk.
When you don't answer all their questions, then you suffer.
Inquisition is their way.
Hey, hey, hey

(Ricky Martin....I am so sorry!)

She's into Nitrox diving.
Mixed gas is such a treat.
On my boat she's arriving,
Her gear looks really neat.

She wants to go down deeper.
To wrecks no man has seen.
I think, I'll go down with her.
This dive sounds really keen.

She made me change my set up,
And mixed a special gas,
I'm sinking past four hundred,
And the bottoms coming fast,
This dive could be my last! Come on!

Five hundred feet down!
She' diving la vida loca!
I'm sure that we'll drown!
She's diving la vida loca!
Diving la vida loca,
Diving la vida loca.

To the tune of the themesong of the "Welcome Back Kotter" TV show

"Welcome Back" by John Sebastian

In honor of the new scubaboard site layout...
--------------------------------

Welcome back,
Your dives were your ticket out.

Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names are the same since you hung around,
But those screens have all changed and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought ya'd read it (Who'd have thought ya'd read it)
Here where we post it (Here where we post it)

Sometimes flames are hot cause they've got em on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

EDIT: typos... Argh... EDIT 2: changed the last line cause the new one flows better.

The original artist and song title is...? (Sorry, but I'm not up on some of the newest stuff. My faves so far are the Rescue Me and Rainy Day Women parodies, those I recognize. I'm dating myself, so what.)

Soft Cell - Tainted Love. Heard that one during many long evenings in the bar in college...

...Also, it was in the Coneheads movie.

if i may be pedantic for a wee bit...

"Tainted Love" was in fact written by Ed Cobb in the mid 60's (yes... mid 60's)
and recorded by Gloria Jones.

I've heard the original version, and it's a standard "girl group" song. Soft Cell did
give it the "eerie" sound that made their cover rightly well known in 1982.

check out a brief blurb on Jones:

Greg G.:
Speaking of song parodies, recent events reminded me of a song I only caught part of once many years ago during the Iranian hostage crises. It was to the tune of "Barbara-Ann" but instead they were singing "Bomb Iran". (Frankly, I hope we find that they too have been harboring those &*^%$#@!). I'll see if I can find it somewhere. Maybe the lyrics can be updated a bit, even turn it into a dive tune.

The Beach Boys got pissed over Bomb Iran and sued to have it pulled over copyright infringement.
