Anyone have any ideas who’s behind the chest mount rebreather the entertainers on dive talk are about to start selling called the “Dive Talk Go”?

If you haven’t already heard they are about to release “their own” chest mount recreational rebreather.

I wonder if they will have a CE rating on it 🤔
If looks are deceiving then this contraption needs no endorsements.

All about the DiveTalk GO Rebreather! | BLUE WORLD EXTRA

Is this supposed to be an ad? First, I want my time back. Second, this video makes a good argument for a normal "technical expedition grade CCR."

He is a more traditional media personality that is good friends with Mike, Gus, and Woody; you shouldn't expect a critical unbiased reviews from him.

The video is clearly aimed at people not familiar with rebreathers. It clearly shows the unit. All the pros given about it are the ones given for any CM unit I know of. I must say I'm rather doubtful about the counter lungs just staying in the open, exposed to any kind of misfortune. That's a first (if we except rigs from the distant past) and I'm not sure it's so good an idea, especially on a rough sea.

Watching that video nicely makes the case for a lightweight travel rebreather. It does not, IMHO, make any case for it as a "recreational rebreather" -- which is a complete oxymoron. All of the rebreather divers shown in that clip are highly experienced technical divers with a lot of time on rebreathers.

I really like the idea of a rebreather that's very compact and lightweight and has "reasonable" depth limitations, e.g. that of the orifice.

As someone who occasionally travels with a backmount unit, it is heavy and I cannot get the weight down to under the 23kg/50lbs cheapskate baggage limit. A compact chestmount unit would be half the weight of a full sized unit and maybe even fit in carry on.

It's good to see the a coupe of new chestmount units that would fit the travel requirement. Triton, ChOptima, Halcyon Thing, Kiss/DiveTalk Go, and probably others.

If only Triton would do a Shearwater version and ditch the Monex stuff.

I'd like to have a unit that would work in a SCR mode to allow for nitrox instead of pure O2 -- which may be difficult to source in "recreational" locations.

Can’t pay bag fee.

Solution? 5000 dollar rebreather.
