I can’t really say for myself, a few weeks ago my wife and son went from playa to Cancun no problems, typical check the price before getting in - I think she told me 1500 pesos.

People on here seem to have someone as a private driver that they’re real happy with. I’d just think taxis aren’t really an issue, check the price before getting in usual stuff.

There was some wanker bs going on in the southern part of the state between taxi groups but nothing I’ve heard between playa and Cancun

Chief's van guy does it for about 850 Pesos he thinks, with appointment plus tip. If you just want to ask taxi drivers on arrival, 1500 sounds high end. Confirm AC.

I'm looking at flying back to Vegas from Cancun on September 3rd through Charlotte:

Cancun, Mexico to Las Vegas, NV
    Thursday, September 3, 2020
    2:45 PM 9:44 PM
    8h 59m
    CUN - CLT AA 886 321-Airbus A321
    CLT - LAS AA 624 321-Airbus A321
It will take less time than going through Miami and I wouldn't have to change terminals in DFW. It's $30 more expensive, but...Also, since it leaves a bit later in the day I think the ferry, bus/taxi would be a breeze. Only down side is that they use old US Airways planes. Or am I missing another downside.

Anyone ever stay at the Casa del Mar?

We've stayed there once. Never again. We usually at Village Tan Kah right next door and dive with Roberta's Scuba Shack across the street. Nice, fast boats.

I really want to know as well. I’ve looked at it many times...but there is just ‘something’ about it... it doesn’t sit right....

90 minutes to clear I&C is risky to me. Remember that many flights are not flying these days so backup flights are difficult to impossible to find. That's the last flight from CLT to LAS of the day so I wouldn't.

DFW is not a bad connection airport in my opinion, better than MIA and others. You might shoot for the short connection there with a later flight possible.

Casa Mexicana is a popular hotel. I've stayed at their cheaper properties and done breakfast there, which is a great breakfast if not in a hurry or diving, but I am both so not appealing to me. I like a light breakfast and get to the boat.

You'd pay extra for a channel view and street noise.
