Well, that itinerary from Cozumel to Las Vegas on Thursday does not give much time - officially 1 hour 35 minutes to clear I&C, change terminals, reenter security (at least they take your checked bags back after Customs so you don't have to drag those), and there is no backup flight on American or any other airline.

Not enough time for me.

Then there was the time in IAH that the stud belonging to TSA had stopped the line going up the escalator, and was letting 10 at a time proceed after fido sniffed everyone. while he was rocking from heel to toe with the most smug smile on his face that you've ever seen.

He was so cute and so totally pleased with himself.

I have Global Entry. Does that make a difference coming back from Mexico? I can not remember the last time I flew through DFW, so have very little recollection of the airport except that it is BIG. I already changed my appointment, so I can leave from Cozumel or Cancun at this point. They were happy to oblige. :) I think people are so happy for people coming in for appointments from out of state that they'll do switches all day long.

I worry a bit about flying from Cancun because there are more moving parts. Ferry, bus, plane vs. Taxi, plane. If people with more experience in Cozumel say it's easy, I'll go for a more sure thing.
Wasn't working real well a couple weeks back. About 10 minutes wait. In the immigration hall only 2 kiosks were manned on the us citizen side. The global entry kiosk was also handling crew and others. Multiple groups of ICE hanging out in groups BS'ing so it wasn't a manpower thing they seemed to be doing another slowdown

I flew there via Cancun 2 weeks ago and it was a breeze getting out of the airport going and leaving. We got there an hour and 15 minutes before our flight on the way back and that was plenty time. I wouldn’t bother with the bus when you can get a private driver for $40-50 each way. Jose aka Johnny of American Transfers is very popular on here.

On the question of “is 1hour 35 minutes enough time with global entry “
We fly AA via DFW almost exclusively. With Global Entry and recheck you’ll still have time for a quick snack .
Never had any problems making our flight.

I came through DFW from CZM 2 weeks ago with Global Entry and 1-1/2 hr between flights. I made it with about 5 minutes before boarding started. It was really quick that day. There was not a separate line at security recheck for TSA precheck that day so that slowed me down a bit and changing terminals even with Skylink took most of my time. It was a gamble but I made it.

Quintana Roo state – Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution due to crime.

Criminal activity and violence, including homicide, occur throughout the state. Most homicides appear to be targeted; however, criminal organization assassinations and turf battles between criminal groups have resulted in violent crime in areas frequented by U.S. citizens. Bystanders have been injured or killed in shooting incidents.

There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees in Quintana Roo state, which include tourist areas in: Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya.

I don't know about DFW but it makes little difference at IAH. I know that because my gf has GE and I do not and we have returned there from international trips a dozen or so times. Usually she is at baggage a few minutes ("few" as in 2-5) and sometimes I get there first. Never have we not both been there by the time baggage started rolling so the chokepoint is the baggage not the immigration line. The self-serve kiosks installed about 7 years ago were a game changer. Mobile passport helped further. There used to be occasional lines at customs exits but the last few years the scanners and officers disappeared and you just walk out without any delay. (By that point they probably already know your life history and what's in your bags.)

It doesn't matter where you're returning from, everyone goes through the same lines.

I've got to think this mainly in the city of Cancun and not around the resorts.
