Yea, it's not really meant to offend people but that's been going on for a good six weeks, multiple times a day. From we're coming March 25th what to expect to what do you mean you're not open, we bought plane tickets...... It was old a month ago.

I'm just being straight and honest with you. They say we are back in business on the 8th but that depends on keeping our numbers low - the state of Q Roo today posted the highest number of active covid cases to date, Cozumel is actually getting better, it's the mainland. What are they going to do about the 8th? - anyone's guess, we might know over the weekend, we might know at 10pm Sunday - who knows. When will dine in restaraunts be open? - I have heard that will not be until we are "green" but how are you going to feed tourists - we, the normal folks have no idea. Bars?? - again, no one knows. I'm not sure what they'll do with the curfew, with bars not open, I think some folks would be happy to see a 10pm curfew, it's had a nice calming effect on crimes.....

If you want to come here to dive and just dive, get some take out food and drink beer on your balcony - once they open the port - it won't be a bad deal. There's times I just want to get away and do some no pressure just diving vacation - this would be the time.. If you want or expect anything more than that, I'd wait a bit and see what this new normal looks like cause we sure as heck don't know.

I'm not trying to push people off - I want you to come here and it live up to your expectations, I want you to love it so much you come three or four times a year!
Are no dine in restaurants open on Cozumel right now?

Nada, take out only and it's not all of them every day.

I've been in Playa all day the last two days. I had a bunch of time to kill yesterday and just walked down 10th Ave about 6-8 blocks to see what was going on, there was a handful of restaurants open for take out, a few trying to clean up, maybe a few hotels cleaning things up but basically nothing going on. Fifth Ave is tore up as far as I walked, they pulled all the pavers up including the park by the ferry - you could not walk down 5th Ave. Here's a pic of Playa 5th Ave.

That's awesome. Thanks for the info. I'd love to get them on the books, but I'll need to see what their cancellation policy is first in case things go south between now and then.
Just cancel the day before a planned dive to avoid charges. That gives him time to book someone else in your spot. He's excellent about replying to emails, whatsapp, FB messenger, or direct texts. Chat with him.

Several years ago when I was diving with Scuba Tony, our DM was Raymundo. Hands down my favorite DM in my 12+ years of diving. He left the island for while, returned and now works for Salty Endeavors. I have not met Henry, or used the dive op, but hear only good things about them.
Sometimes I can remember faces, names less likely. I think I've dived with him. And shaded. I can't believe that some boats there lack shade.

Oh, their boats are quite roomy as well as equipped.

The refund policy on his website says that any cancellations less than 14 days prior to get no refund. But perhaps it may be different with the current situation. I’ll see what he says.

I do have a 14 day no refund policy. Note that I only request a 10% deposit for people staying on island, so we are talking about $8/dive is on the no refund policy.

That said, I've never kept someone's deposit (or full payment) when given even just a day or two notice. Most days we are full, so my concern really is a diver finding Tequila Tuesday at Senor Frogs and then skipping out on the morning dives and providing me no notice. That hurts.

And now given Covid, I've been taking my reservations without deposit. If you've been reading online at all you know things in Cozumel are in great flux. I'm not accepting deposits until I know for a fact I can provide our services without a hitch. Until then I'm simply keeping names on my calendar and keeping open communication with those divers.

Drop us an email or phone call and I'd be happy to discuss this in greater detail.

Ok, I forgot. 14 days on the 10% deposit. I still think it's the day before for changes so he doesn't get stiffed by hungover divers blowing him off at the last minute or cruiser boaters holding space then flaking out. If it was my Op, I'd want payment in full from cruisers, no refunds. He is very accomodating tho, so talk with him yourself for best results.

Oh, ok, there's Sloeber also known as Henry at Salty Endeavors.

Thanks Don!

And yes, cruise ship divers do pay full invoice for deposit. We love our cruise ship divers, but some lessons are learned the hard way I'm afraid.

Are they just taking advantage of this time to catch up on maintenance?

Ah, nice! Gotta love ScubaBoard...lol. Nice to meet ya. I'll shoot you an email tomorrow. Hopefully everything works out and I end up diving with y'all five weeks from now. Current plan is to be there the 8th-18th, so 8 days of a lot of diving, or 7 days if I end up taking one day to try to go snorkel with whale sharks.

One of the police officers I was talking to said it had been a planned project, they just moved it ahead of schedule - a lady on Facebook also said that.

That whole park is tore up except the monuments and they were pulling all the pavers up just to the right as you leave the ferry today - looks like a big undertaking.
