CineDiver:
Hello my fellow 'scubians'

I am wanting to create an awareness for manufactures, which will let them know that the Mac Users are here and wanting support, just as the Windoz guys. Without this info, developers such as Mark Rosenstein with DiveLog http://www.macdivelog.com, are not getting support from companies such as Suunto.
'Mac'ingly yours

-CineDiver, churning the waters

I'll second that. Mac DiveLog is *ok* but doesn't have features that I'd like to see, yet it seems to be about the only option.

I'm very glad to see someone is taking care of us Mac users. Thanks CineDiver!

Your welcome Nniko! Not sure how much, but defiantly churning the waters!

Me too. Been there and done that with VPC & Intuit for taxes and all. I just want fair practices with Manufactures and Macs. If they are not up to speed then open the doors.

And thanks to everyone out there that has added to this thread. It's good to know that your not alone in a deep sea of PC's ;) Just today I met a guy at a business meeting that I always speak to dropping the kid off to Kindergarden, who is in the post-film biz and is a diver too!! I'm sure he's a Mac guy too!

I would suggest to the people with other dive computers than Suunto, to press those companies also. Refer to this thread, let them know just how we feel. Mostly its the sales and tech people that hear our groans and moans, as we are told "No! or I'm not sure?!? ...if it works on a Mac or not!" But when I drop over a G ($1000) on a PC only watch... I'm not happy.

If I had some information as to how data is tranferred from a dive computer, I would definitely start writing a small piece of software to download my dive log.

Information has been published (by third parties) about many Suunto models. This is what I used for developing DiveLog. See http://www.markus-fritze.de/suunto/cobra.html

The people who make the Sensus and Sensus Pro have published their protocol.

I don't know of any other manufacturers whose information is available. I'm in the process of reverse engineering several others, and will publish what I learn once I've managed to make a demo program that downloads.

I have an ibook and I'll be purchasing a PowerMac next year at some point. I've also got a homebuilt desktop PC that runs everything else. It sure would be nice to get rid of it if I could once the next Mac arrives.

Since Aeris makes an USB cable for the Ai, I'd surely pay for Mac software to use it. Too bad Aeris isn't interested in my money.

I have a Suunto Mosquito but haven't acquired any means of downloading until I am sure that good, working software is available. I think I'll check into DiveLog again, though.

1.5G TiB G4, 800MHz Flatscreen G4, 450Mz Imac G3, Quadra 630, Mac Classic (yeah, I know, I've got a problem)

I have an iBook that I really would like to be able to capture dive data while on my trips. I also have a PowerMac G4 (server) and G5 at home. My hubby & I each have an Uwatec Aladin Pro Ultra. Thanks for the info about DiveLog (and someone reporting this to http://macintouch.com). I don't see why the manufacturers can't provide the protocol info for OSS projects either.
