I designed the case and sent the drawings to machine shop. The case is about the size of my 6ft DSMB, as shown, below.

I took it down to 145 ft (~ 44 m) depth, no problem.

And that's in fresh water! Better in salt water....

The PLB1 float jacket makes the PLB1 form factor short & fat . So I just tether it to PLB1 and slide it on top of PLB1 in my custom design case.

The case is made out of acrylic & the lid is made out of polyethylene so the threads won’t lock up when you loosen it. They are tethered to my BCD pocket D-ring too. So, when I open the lid on the surface and fumble, they won’t sink to the abyss.

If you get one, make sure you carry the shoulder mounting kit. You don’t want to hold it and point the antenna up to the sky while bobbing on the surface like a cork for 24 hours.

I wrap the shoulder mounting kit around my mirror and tethered them together with PLB1 & Nautilus MRG.

Interesting that the ACR View floats according to Don and the PLB1 needs a flotation jacket.

It would be tragic to carry a PLB and the one time one needs it, it sinks.
