Another one bites the dust! This happens so often, part of the boat briefing should be: "When the boat starts to sink....."
Maybe not quite in those words, but something like that is pretty standard.
 
I wonder why it took 8hrs for them to be rescued… anyone know more about why that happened?
Best guess: No other boats in the vicinity. Elba Reef is a far south as you can go In Egypt. According to the reports, basically every other LoB stayed as far north as Satay due to the weather. It's far away from any comercial route and there is not much of a military precence in the area.
 
One would expect a SAR helo to reach sooner than later - is Elba reef out of a helo’s ferry range?
