Well...I still miss the pockets, and like I said before, I'm not going to be gluing one onto my wetsuit any time soon.

Problem solved: X-shorts!

Or just do what I do and put a dive rite bellows pockets on the right hand waist strap of your harness, add an extra buckle to hold it place and you're set.

Also makes a fine place to run your long hose under when hog looping!! :D

My juvenile rants on what? That I'd dare to advocate for divers; newbies included, to think for themselves?

Here's what I see.....

1) Newbie asks for advice about BCD and/or BP&W

2) Poster/s replies with justified recommendation.

3) fnfalman throws a tantrum because someone tell the newbie what to do.

4) Repeat ad nauseam...

I've not seen the X-Shorts before. I think I gotta get some.

2mm neoprene shorts can't add too much bouyancy, can they?

Here's what I see:

1. Newbies asking for advices.
2. Posters pontificate and INSIST that BPW & long hose/short hose is the ONLY way to go.
3. fnfalman plays devil's advocate.
4. Pontificators throw tantrums and begin ad hominem attacks.
5. fnfalman replied in kind.
6. Pontificators whine about being misunderstood.
7. Repeat as needed.

This makes the BP/W more versitile because while it was more than equal in my warm water pool tests, it hugely excells when matched with a thicker wetsuit or drysuit.

That's the main reason I went with a stainless steel plate BPW.

But that's me.

Plenty of other divers, some are actually quite good at diving in real life instead of being internet experts, successfully use jacket BCs in cold water. If it works for them, then by all means.

FOR ME, I prefer the BPW layout.

When I internet dive I usually just have on a pair of jean shorts and a t-shirt. That seems to work better than a jacket or BP/W.

I go commando. Elegance in simplicity. Oh yeah, and a 3-cuft Spare Air too.:eyebrow:
