Grew up in the mountains of Colorado. After long cold winters, trips to the beach became a matter of survival. First dives were in Hawaii in 1979. OW cert in 1982. Career as a ski racing coach required chasing winter from the top to the bottom of the earth and back which left little time for diving, but the work with Olympic level elite athletes required year 'round commitment.
After a 5 year stretch between 1995 and 1999 with no vacation, I was finally able to re-establish a relationship with water in its liquid form. Diving became an incredible escape and a passion, even an obsession.
In 1999 I started a business in a ski resort town and then later took a position at an Academy as the Alpine Director and history teacher. This afforded more opportunity to travel and dive. Local diving became important which opened doors to cold water diving. Dive trips began to include the Pacific Northwest and the Great Lakes as well as the traditional Caribbean escapes.
In 2005 we moved to Fort Collins where my wife works as a Veterinarian and where I began the process of becoming a dive Instructor.
In 2012, after having the priviledge of teaching scuba full time at Colorado State University, I co-founded CSDA, Colorado Scuba Diving Academy. www.codivingacademy.comInteract
