Worst case, I can return some or all of my hoses. No worries. I appreciate all the advice. Just some background perspective. I did have an incident on a deep wreck with a standard stiff rubber hose where I probably turned my head too quickly and drank some water. The involuntary coughing fit that ensued was pretty unnerving to say the least. My goal is reliability but also flexibility of the hose, at least the ones I use for regulators.
At the same time, I understand that if you folks have learned through your experience, that the braided hoses are a pain in the neck (pun intended) in a long hose setup, that's also a non trivial consideration. Other than pain, I don't want a discomfort causing a distraction that impacts my situational awareness either.
I already have a 48" hose for under arm routing. I was just looking to get a 84" hose as an alternative to try out and get used to if I want to try other types of diving it may be more suited for down the road.
With that said, and I've seen reference to these on other threads, have any of you tried the Piranha Ultra flex hoses? They're rubber so they wouldn't have the abrasion issues but they're more flexible than traditional rubber hoses.

And to take the question one step further, what about using the Ultra flex hoses with a 1st stage that has a turret? Seems that would give me a non abrasive, flexible hose setup that has minimal kinking probability at the source.
