Hey, didn't you say you got a rental car Remote Keyless FOB wet once - and he didn't charge you? Those are like $50-75 at a dealership, but I found some new ones for like $7 & Up, free shipping, on Ebay. I just ordered the Pad for $4 as that's all I need I think, and I already had new batteries: 6 for a buck. You might take him one if you can get the exact make & model. Programming looks hard until you read the instructions, then it looks too easy.

Jeeze, I just read how to program a new key for my car. You don't even need the original key. Too easy!

What is the water temp expected to be in late August?

I was planning on a full dive skin and a 2 mm shorty. Hope that is enough exposure protection.

Do you dive with full foot fins or open heel with booties?

I doubt you'll need the shorty, but you never know. Good to take it. I always take a 3 mil but never use it. Still, tolerances vary. Whichever fins you want to wear.

Wet is like an understatement. We were night diving off the Ballena and were waiting in the Caleta for the rest of the divers. (Which was odd in itself as I am usually the late one...) The mossies were KILLING us waiting on the boat. And I don't mean those friendly little ones with dengue in town, but the HUGE black jungle skeeters the size of A10 Warthogs and just as deadly. When several started to carry off a nephew, I broke out the key and started to the car to wait. Of course as we stepped off the boat the other divers pulled in. Of course I took the keys outta the dry back and had it in my pocket. At least it didn't fall out on paridiso.

Get me one for a dodge attitude/Hyundai something. We always get the same one, littte P^%ta car. Some exgirlfriend keyed the trunk. Make it easy to pick out which one of the blue attitudes is ours.

Wetsuit needs are so subjective... However, if you are taking a dive skin and a 2 mm shorty, you should be OK. To give you an idea, Michael and I start with our 3 mm full suits. For summer months, we then pack one cooler layer, ie: our Lavacore two piece just in case we are too warm. If for instance we need extra warmth due to water temp or for core cooling after several dives, then we can layer up. We also pack our Lavacore hood. Michael wears it for every dive as he gets chilled. I sometimes wear it, but then take it off mid dive as I am too warm. Regardless, it is good to have some sort of skin to cover arms and legs as it is possible to run into some burning type stuff, even if you do not touch the reef. (Which we are not suppose to do ...) For instance, one time I was floating in the middle of nowhere and all of a sudden I got hit with what seems like a wall of hydroid. Somehow, a bunch must have been dislodged and I ended up floating into it. My forehead, neck, wrists and ankles got hit, however, since I have most of my body covered, I did not take a total hit. Boy that stuff burns !!! (and then itches and whelps up afterward...yuck)

Re: fins. Wear what you are comfortable with, however, keep in mind that you will be climbing a ladder to get back on the boat. I imagine that it is much easier and comfortable with soled booties than bare or sock covered feet. If the boat is rocking due to swells, it also may be easier to climb as well. Again, whatever you are comfortable with.

I'm heading for the pier for my first dive of the trip. Will let everyone know water temp etc. I'm just wearing skins..but that's because I'm a "Hot Granny" Went for a dip in the ocean when we got here yesterday and it felt like bath water compaired to the Ohio quarries. oooooooooo I'm back and can't wait to hit the reefs. Catch all y'all later..I'm going diving !

Looks like someone found a small frogfish on the shore dive in front of Blue Angel recently. I've only seen one of those here, ever. Got to go looking for this one!
