I was in the Bahamas last March. We flew into Nassau and spent several days there and on GRI we stayed at the Pelican Bay in Port Lucaya. I would definitely stay at Pelican Bay again. We also dove with UNEXSO which was right next door.
I do dive the Manchones and Chitales Reefs every couple months. They are a beautiful dive. They are within the depth Jr. Open Water Divers can dive, the reason I did not mention these sites is because there can be a strong current, some decent chop on the surface making entry back into the boat...
I have a Digital Rebel XT with the 17-85 IS lens. I cannot comment on other dealers (except B&H - I have been pleased with purchases from them as well. In fact that's where I bought the camera and lens). But I bought my Ikelite Housing and dome port from Reef Photo. I called on several...
You might want to check out Chankanaab National Park in Cozumel. It's a great shore dive - especially for beginners. While it may not offer everything Cozumel is famous for, there's still a lot to look at. They have small Mayan statues, reefs and critters, a small swim-through and a statue of...
It depends which you will be doing more of. Besides the 911, some of our team dives the Zeagle Ranger which is another system you can grow into and modify for each use. Another thought could be the DUI Delta.
Hi Everyone,
I am not sure this is the right place for this but here goes.
I am teaching a DAN DEMP class this Saturday 4/15/06 in Westfield, NJ. The course material was submitted to the State of NJ OEMS and was approved to receive 7.5 - 8 EMT CEU Credits which is a third needed for...
I'd like to toss one more into the mix - very similar to the AGA's are the Poseidon Atmosphere FFM. It does offer both demand and positive pressure and comes with the Jetstream regulators.
I have a 50 caliber mounted on the front of my DPV and haven't had a problem. Just kidding. Some national parks though prohibit use of knives and gloves. Just double check with your dive operator. Like the others said put it in your checked and you should be fine.
I bring 2 suits - a 3mm full suit for the cenotes which run about 75-76F year round and a 1mm suit for reef diving. But a lot of the times I may opt not to wear the 1mm. depends on the location and weather.
Regardless of you you pick, the dive ops in the "cenote zone" are very understanding and professional. I use Hidden Worlds. You are not the first, nor the last diver that was a little hesitant about cenote diving. I am glad I did it. The visibility in some seem to go on forever. They are...
I just returned a few days ago from The Bahamas where I spent a week using a Digital Rebel XT with a 17-85 USM IS lens. Ikelite makes a special dome port for that lens which I purchased because I had a need to do some split level shots. I also liked the 17mm for wide angle as I did a few shark...
We dove with Stuarts Cove on Wednesday of last week. They were extremely accommodating. We did 4 dives - The Sea Viking and The Treasure Wreck in the AM and then after lunch we did a 2T Shark Dive which is an absolute must. Inside the photo shop there are photos of all the different dive...
That has to be THE best answer to the Cozumel vs. Cancun diving I have seen on these boards yet. I am partial to Cancun because I have been going there so long and have so many friends living there. I enjoy visiting with long time friends as much as I enjoy diving. Why settle for one or the...
I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use the bus system from Cancun. Its downtown, very clean as were the buses, and felt it to be very safe - not to mention inexpensive. We took the red-eye bus from Cancun to Chetumal and then had a guide take us across the border and drop us off at...
There are a handful of very great and safe dive operators in the area. When we dive Dos Ojos we only dive with Hidden Worlds. We've never been disappointed. We just got back 2 days ago.
We go to Mexico every October but late October. Usually the last Thursday of October to the first Thursday of November. By then the hurricanes are usually through the area. You will probably experience winds that may either close the ports or require the dive boat to alter which dive site...
We leave $1 per person per day and we leave it at the end of the bed every morning. It's not a lot but when they know you thought enough of them to leave something they usually go that extra mile for you. If we're in the room at the same time they come to clean, we occasionally offer them a...
