Boyton Beach - Ft Lauderdale Accommodations

I did a couple of quick searches, but didn't locate information. Penny and I are coming down Aug 1-8, and looking for an Inn, motel, hotel, townhouse or other that might be diver-friendly. Probably looking for something on the inexpensive side in the Boyton Beach - Ft Lauderdale region. It...

    Botched Apostrophes

Why can't Scubaboard's version of vBulletin handle apostrophes that are pasted in from other text sources? It's the only vBulletin board I've run across (so far) that's got this problem. This has occurred when copying in from Notepad, a WordPress blog, or another vBulletin site.

    Anyone using CrossFit out there?

I noticed via a search that a few people have mentioned CrossFit here on SB, but I actually didn't hear about it until a few weeks ago on a Mountain Bike forum. The WOD on the CrossFit site is too aggressive for me to start with, so I've just started doing one of the approved scaled WOD's from...

    Access to the Pub

After seeing references to "The Pub", I've tried to opt-in, but it's not on the list. I've been opted into the Surface Interval for a couple of years, so thought this might be an issue, so I left the SI, then re-joined, but I still don't see "The Pub". Is there somewhere else I need to look or...

    New Posts deja vu

Any thoughts on why my subscribed threads show threads as having new posts when they are the same as I last read them? Sometimes they even go to the same read posts (when I click "goto first unread") when a new post or two has been added. Background: Monitor several vBulletin forums daily...

Got a dilemma... what happens when you combine these?

So... you've got DORK divers and then you've got DIR divers diving together... what does that end up combining/making/producing? Is the result DIRK divers? Or is it more dependent on a dominate/recessive gene matrix? Help me on this one!! Might not sleep until it's resolved!

White Star Quarry under new management?

I heard today that Divers Inc out of Michigan won the bid to manage the diving operations for Sandusky County Park District at White Star Quarry. Curious to see how that will change things. Anyone know anything about Divers Inc or worked with them before? Was curious if other dive shops...

    Gilboa Quarry iced over

As a heads up just in case you have plans.... Talked with Mike Williams today and he said that about 7/8 of the quarry is iced over (after being 90% open yesterday). If the wind lays down tonight (as forecasted), he expected it to completely cover over based on past experience.

A Beginning Workout target to This Middle-age Diver

I was a couch potato for about a year from mid 2004 to mid 2005, in part to torn ankle ligaments in my left ankle and then a broken toe on right foot. At one point, I finally approached my brother to help design a workout for a middle age diver that wanted to renew/extend my diving for many...

A Week of Cave Diving in NFL During a Hot Dry Spell

A week before I took off to Northern Florida, I saw my cave instructor at an Ohio quarry. After a brief conversation, he mentioned that he was headed down for some cave diving with one student and a small army, and there was one bed available in the trailer they were renting from Rennaker's. As...

Kudos to Salvo Diving for Dive Light repair; Thumbs down to Halcyon warranty policy!

A couple of months ago Penny picked up a nice dive light from a friend of mine in Indiana. He was forced into a dive hiatus by sinus issues and a newly expected addition that would be joining his family, so he was liquidating much of his dive gear. He'd only owned the dive light for a few...

    Cave diving in Marianna, FL

This past Thursday, four of us rode down to Marianna, FL to dive in a couple of different caves. We had BCS (who started the drive down from Detroit) that picked up the remainder of us (Scott L, Dan G, and me) along the way for our long trek down. Poor Brando had the longest drive from MI...

    Scootering 1000 Island Region Wrecks

This past weekend (Sept 24/25), I was part of a club dive that include BAD and LEWD divers (Sandusky Bay Area Divers and Lake Erie Wreck Divers). As expected, the weather and the wrecks were incredible on Saturday. We went out with Wayne (TIPD) on his Osprey boat and visited Kinghorn...

When using the "logout" on the top menu e.g. "Forums, Active Topics..... Logout", I receive an error message, and I have to click the link it provides to complete the logout. However, when I use the "logout" at the bottom of the main forum page, it works properly. The top logout is pointed to...
