I'm all for healthy competition, but you need a product to compete. There's no hostility....I just don't get where you're coming from.

Also, from what I've found online so far (because my Petrel hasn't arrived yet) points to 1-second resolution, especially on countdowns.

outside gage mode, petrel has time in minutes. seconds elapse on progress bar that moves continuously under the TIME or STOP text, 15 seconds per letter. so u can see it move more granuarly than 15 second, but it's not precicse like if it showed seconds 4 time. but what r u measuring that precisely? not like ur tables or programs or ascent rate timing are anywhere near that accurate NEway. lol

I would like to hear reports from anyone using the Xdeep as a Nitrox computer. I thought I saw that someone had downloaded the software.

One thing that I previously did not like about the Petrel was its display layout, with a lot of information all in the same size. The new "rec" layout changes that to a really excellent distribution of dive info and NDL/Deco info in separate boxes and larger fonts. Really nice for us rec divers. If you get to see one at BTS, can you ask them if how the ascent rate display looks? Their website does not show that.

I'll report back. Will take pics if they let me...

The blacks should be in Sebastian's hands tomorrow...how many? I don't know at this point, but we will find out tomorrow. Cross your fingers for a ton of them...

Yup. I heard from Sebastian yesterday. I'm a little ashamed to say I had emailed him about canceling my order having learned about the new Petrel firmware. Seems Shearwater has taken note of the market attention xDeep has cultivated and decided to take action. Well, Sebastian encouraged me to hang on until the end of the week and let me know he'd be receiving a shipment this Thursday. I decided to wait it out and see what happens. I'm hoping my order will be shipped out at the end of this week.

I also pounced on a used Petrel for a good price. I'm really looking forward to diving them side by side for a solid comparison. And if my Black EANx doesn't arrive, I know I'll enjoy diving that Shearwater...

Song remains the same. I'll be convinced when I see them personally. Ditto for Mike too I suppose.

Today's nearly done. No updates, still preorder only on his website.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, I'm sure Sebastian is setting up his booth for the BTS Show this weekend or feverously shipping computers. Most manufacturers right now are gone and not answering as they are getting ready for the show
