You are not stating anything, you are making excuses. So they are at DEMA this week, where were they last week? Or before that? THEY started this thread and they are responsible for it.

ams511 ... I don't see the point in this... be angry somewhere else.
where were they last week? Or before that?
I'm not their keeper, but I can tell you they were testing the BT with a 160m dive recently... check out their facebook page.

Graggs why don't you be defensive somewhere else. All of your recent posts deal with XDeep, so what is your relationship to the company?

I am not angry at XDeep, because I am not waiting in vain for the product. If I was, I would be in Orlando questioning them in person.

You are not their keeper but their defender. They started this thread and then abandoned it when people starting asking where their product is. You say they are too busy and make up feeble excuses: they are at DEMA. they are diving, what is next? They are having tea with the Queen?

You say look at Facebook, look at Facebook, Why? They posted here not in Facebook. Also in case you don't keep up with the news, Facebook tracks everything you do on their site and then sells the info to third parties. Many of us do not want to be a part of that.

Also, why are they testing a product that was supposedly ready and available for shipment months ago?

Finally, my point is this. In any industry there are good actors and bad actors. The good actors should be recommended and rewarded with business, the bad actors should be identified and not given business. After all most people prefer to spend money with a company that is customer-service orientated, not a company that leaves them twisting in the wind.

Hi AMS511
I don't disagree with some of what's being said here, but I don't see the point of going over and over the same thing. Forums should be happy and informative. This debate is not helping anyone who is looking for factual information about the elusive xDeep BT.
To answer your questions;
All of your recent posts deal with XDeep, so what is your relationship to the company?
None, I was looking for a very light weight wing setup for travelling and came across their Ghost Wing and that led me to their BT and subsequently to this forum. I didn't buy their wing in the end - I needed something that would also accommodate some twin's and stages, so I went with AGIR BROKK in Sweden.
You are not their keeper but their defender
You are right, I am not their keeper and I am NOT defending them... I have stated that before.
I AM pointing out the difference between a bad marketing decision (i.e not keeping their potential customer base informed) with the conjecture that that means the product or after-sales support will be equally bad. IMO that is nonsense.

I DO agree that they should have kept up some line of communication here.

BUT, we are all adults, so, if something doesn't suit us or work for us, then move on... there are plenty of other suppliers and products out there.

look at Facebook, Why?
I said that because there is information there that might help other who are interested... I agree that in an ideal world, they would post that information everywhere...

Facebook tracks everything you do on their site and then sells the info to third parties. Many of us do not want to be a part of that.
I do keep up with news, I work in technology and technical and product design. If you are on the internet, someone knows about it! Your government and mine are both in the news right now for exactly that... if that worries you, the internet is NOT the place to hang out!

Also, why are they testing a product that was supposedly ready and available for shipment months ago?
The product they have promised is the Bottom Timer, my understanding is that this is well in production and some stock is starting to move, but they have been overwhelmed with pre-orders and have a huge backlog to fulfil.
They were testing the new software, as I understand it? Which is being launched at the Dive Show atm.

Finally, my point is this. In any industry there are good actors and bad actors. The good actors should be recommended and rewarded with business, the bad actors should be identified and not given business. After all most people prefer to spend money with a company that is customer-service orientated, not a company that leaves them twisting in the wind.
I don't disagree with this at all. An actor is judged on their ability to act, not their social behaviour; so allow xDeep to get their product to the market to be judged fairly against other similar products.

I can totally understand the utter frustration for people that want this product now or even months ago, that have struggled to get clear answers and I can't and wouldn't defend that, BUT you are prejudging what might be a good or even excellent product based on an unrelated bad marketing decision.

Thanks for the debate AMS511, you'd be good fun at a BBQ .. but I do think we should leave this forum for factual stuff?

Hopefully, someone will get their hands on a BT Black and write a review soon... I've had a quick search but couldn't find anything from the last couple of days... I did find this though Review: xDeep Black BT OLED bottom timer ~ I Are Diver

I saw this prototype in full working order as a bottom timer at BTS 8 months ago. They started quite a buzz. Now I have a lot of respect for companies that don't want to release their product prematurely and want to get all testing and debugging done before it hits the market. But there is a balance between developing pre-release buzz and making people doubt the product. They clearly came out to the public too soon and ran into snags. Best thing to do is put this product completely out of your mind as vaporware. If and when it actually is released, then it is appropriate to compare its price and functions to others that may very well have come out in the meantime. For those who may have put down deposits, that is the chance you take. I am guessing you will get the goods eventually. But you never know when, and you won't know if it will be the best item available at that time.

I was standing at the x deep booth yesterday here at DEMA. The rep was telling those in attendance that there was still 8-10 weeks before they started filling US back orders. So make of that what you will.

What time did you go there?
I was there at 5PM and I was told that lead time is 12 weeks.
I guess they got lot of orders in the time frame between your visit and mine :D

I was at the booth on Tuesday and was told that they were ALREADY shipping and that DRIS would have them in a "few" weeks. They are such nice people with a potential killer product but have NO idea how to market properly. Information was from Sebastian and the owner. (Forgot his name).

When you actually hold and use the device, it is a marvel of engineering. So light and simple to use. The display is crystal clear and amazingly easy to see. Pricing is very competitive but oh, do they stink at communications...

It's nice to hear the the product looks so good from someone who has had their hands on it. Did they have the nitrox software on it yet so that you could run a simulation?

If they can get it together this looks like it will definitely be on my short list this coming summer.
