My response was to a spcific statement ... that impressed me as being totally absurd.

Wait just a minute... you found an absurd statement in this thread! Never, I don't believe it!

You can say your not out to convert the world, but then why else would you guys attack us so much?

Chris... you started this whole ****ing debacle!

It is my understanding that the WKPP was able to get some sites which had been previously closed re-opened.

I missed that one.

Genesis once bubbled... .... you are correct.

But GUE does retain the right to revoke a C-card, and they do not give an objective list of things for which it can be revoked.
Well any agency can revoke your card, of course. Many of us hold cards from multiple agencies, so it wouldn't have very much impact. Since GUE doesn't have an OW program, they have duller teeth than most.
Genesis once bubbled... What gets my radar going is when people start making public safety claims without evidence, and intentionally overstating their case, particularly when they are dancing on gravestones in doing so.
I can understand that.
Genesis once bubbled... THAT is how unwarranted regulation and marketplace manipulation happens, and if you believe for one second that it can't happen here, you need to wake up.
I'd say "can't" would be too strong a word for my opinion. "Only after a bunch of other things" would be more to my liking.

I think we would end up with a watered-down version of the OSHA rules for diving. For instance, the circumstances that would require an on-site chamber would be far different.

I think the internet is going to do most of the fixing of market manipulation. It's just a matter of time.

In any case, thanks for the reply.

I could be wrong, but I thought they had.

To be fair, thats the way I understand it also. From what I've read the bodies were stacking up high and the state of florida closed the sites. Then along came GI3 and convinced them that under his leadership there wouldn't be bodies. The sites were reopened and its been DIR only ever since.

Drew, I'd like to know which sites specifically you're speaking about, I for one don't include Wakulla and adjoining sites "re-opened".

However, we have had some sites reopened, such as Eagles Nest, which we can thank Larry Green for, and also the CDS is in the process of buying Wayne's World.

WKPP only. GI used the WKPP's safety record to gain access for WKPP exploration.

So does that mean all other sites that are DIR only ( if any ) are a direct result of pressure from the DIR crowd?

Ben, I'm really not in a position to talk about this and probably shouldn't have opened my mouth. In all fairnes, it's hearsay. I've read several things by GI where he says something like, "and why does the WKPP get to dive these sites? Because the WKPP's safety record got us access!" There were generally a few stroke references and and a couple ad hominems, but you get the point.

Talk Heather or Mike, they probably know much more then I do. They might tell you I'm full of ****, too.
