Ya know...I WAS fairly neutral, but Genesis-you are beginning to concern me!

Well, I guess the folks who see threats to our freedom lurking in every corner are the ones who actually do protect us-they gotta be right SOME of the time!

I just don't hang with 'em...

Does anyone have a clue what he is talking about??? If so, PM me and explain it because it's lost on me..

Well of course. Since someone can't walk in off the street to dive in Wakulla, that means that GUE will take over the world and require that you show your GUE card to give anywhere... and if they don't like you, they'll take your card so you aren't allowed anywhere in the world because GUE has taken it over.

Mike... I think you can get X-Files reruns on cable. Watch 'em for about a week and then genesis makes a bit more sense.

Does anyone have the secret Genesis decoder ring???

Does anyone have a clue what he is talking about??? If os, PM me and explain it because it's lost on me..

I had no idea that I was a political advocate that may impact the right of a diver living in Florida and because of my "political advocacy" he may be governmentally forced to dive DIR..

Shhh... don't let the cat out of the bag.

Please someone, anyone, I'll even take Painter at this point, but can anyone figure out what the hell he is talking about???

That's pretty damn funny.

Well since you asked...

I *think* I remember reading somewhere once that various DIR factions where going around to various dive charter operations in San Diego and trying to make them DIR only boats, or perhaps it was DIR only dive sites. ( Just like the way certain cave dive sites are DIR only in FL.)

I think he *might* be refferring to that, or he might just be generally paranoid that GUE will try to get the US to have scuba cops that license GUE as the official agency as you have in some European countries. (Other agencies that is.)

... you cannot see.

Kane, have you talked with lawmakers in California or anywhere else on scuba-related issues?

Do you deny that you've promoted the idea that "diving DIR" would have prevented some people's deaths out there, recently, to the point of, in some people's opinion, dancing on gravestones?

Do you deny that you attempted, in the last couple of months, to portrey solo diving as extremely dangerous, but failed to point out that as a percentage of all deaths over the period in which you cited, it did not amount to a statistically-significant percentage of the total, and further, your stats included UNINTENTIONAL solo divers - in fact, nearly ALL of your "solo fatalities" were UNINTENTIONALLY solo!

Do you deny that when called on the above, you went oddly silent and refused to support your claim?

C'mon Mike. You can't deny any of the above.

You've stated all of the above.

How many dots do I need to connect?

Has GUE's attempt to close dive sites been limited to Wakulla? 'Fess up Mike - has anyone from GUE tried to close any OTHER sites? And why close Wakulla? Have priority over it, ok. But CLOSE IT to non-WKPP members? Why?

Let's be honest here Mike. Do you REALLY support my right to dive as I wish? Or would you REALLY like to see it be illegal - not just a violation of your agency standard, but actually against the law - for me to get in my boat and head off to have a nice solo dive tomorrow morning?

If you really support my right to dive as I wish, then why all the public pontification and back-door activity in advocacy of exactly the opposite?

Is Genesis really worried that a not-for-profit organization that has less then 35 instructors will somehow or another take over the diving world and mandate DIR divers only???? PADI has hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars, but yet NAUI, SSI, BSAC, IANTD et. al managed to survive and even with their hundreds of millions of dollars PADI hasn't been able to control the world.. Is Genesis really worried that a group of less then 35, with minimum budgets, no marketing dollars and no plan to do so can actually organize the entire dive industry and force the entire diving world to dive DIR and take away his right to dive any way he wants??? Is that what all this noise is about????

BTW, I'm aware of no effort to make any boats in San Diego all DIR, and I suspect I would have heard about it if it were true..

Thank God the banks and the market is closed to day because we're slow today at work at this thread has been priceless..

Thanks Chickdiver and MHK

Not too different from any other sidemount rig. My point of course wasn't to point out a fault with DIR but to make the point that there were environments that didn't seem extensively adressed by DIR techniques and equipment. My response was to a spcific statement by Don that impressed me as being totally absurd.

It is my understanding that the WKPP was able to get some sites which had been previously closed re-opened.

Of course thats what it is all about. You have a group of convservate divers who believe that only their way is perfect, and you have a group of divers who believe other things are just fine also. First come the name calling ( Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! ) and then one day when you have enough power come the restriction of rights. And you'll think you are doing it to save us from our own certain death.

You can say your not out to convert the world, but then why else would you guys attack us so much?
