Then why not buy one of their computers now and dive with it in OC Rec mode?

Because it costs 5 times as much as a purely recreational computer?

I'd still be perfectly happy with an AI Perdix. I'll pay for the transmitter and simply not use the features I don't need. Perfect.

Because it's overkill and I don't need to spend that much money on a bunch of features I don't need.
It's the unsurpassed quality and great customer support I keep hearing about that is the draw for me.
If they made one AI wireless that would be even better.

You can get a recreational computer with a built-in tilt adjusted compass for less than $170? New? Where? Add in a quality build, user-replacebale inexpensive batteries, and a legible display and there a very few similar rec computers to be had under $500 (if any). If you are a recreational diver nearly any quality computer you buy today is going to have features you don't need.

There are a lot of great computers out there for recreational divers that do have all the rec features of the Pedrix+AI. They also all cost about the same or more than the Pedrix.

No, it costs exactly the same as a purely recreational computer--one that is finely engineered and manufactured and comes with amazing customer service and public relations. The few features it has that are of interest only to tech divers come "free" with all that.

Uh ... you're going to need to elaborate. Professional rebreather divers use computers.

Professional rebreather divers!?!? I never heard of such a thing. I was talking about commercial divers not sport divers. The computer isn't much good when you are diving in zero vis.

I know a commercial diver that uses 2 computers. You can see them fine in zero viz if the screen is oled or a newer lcd. Anyway - it's a personal preference. People use whatever they are gonna use.

and also I think this thread is only about computers from a rec point of view lol.

It's actually substantially cheaper than other recreational computers with similar or worse features. Suunto Eon, Oceanic VTX, Mares Icon HD, almost all of the Suunto watch style computers, etc.
