I am a male. If I was like, hey maeistro, wanna go diving tomorrow?

The first thoughts that go through your head are...(choose all that apply)
a.)Is Harry going to try to make out with me?
b.)I'm not taking my shirt off around this clown.
c.)I've seen this movie before, Harry will probably mug me.
d.)My dive buddies look way hotter than Harry will in neoprene.

my fiance doesn't like me diving with females, yet i won't dive with a male buddy. weird, but i'm sure someone else has the same conundrum. she won't get certified and i love to dive. i'm not comfortable to do the diving practices with a guy, actually i would not be comfortable with her doing it either. :no

so what do you do? i always make sure my partner and i are similar size and ability.

i'm a guy btw, so she's understandably upset about me being that close to someone.

No offense, but it sounds like some phobic issues and trust issues to get over. Once those are hurdled, everyone is a buddy regardless of gender.

Web Monkey:
If you're diving with the same woman a lot, you need to find a new buddy. As my wife the therapist says, "If you go to the barbershop often enough, eventually you're going to get a haircut"

You've got to be kidding with this statement. For the last 10 year sor so I have been diving almost exclusively with men. Several are my very good friends, and we dive together nearly every weekend. And guess what... no "haircuts"- not even the thought!

C'mon. It is perfectly reasonable for members of the opposite sex to be friends and enjoy the same activities without sexual overtones.

almitywife:
as TS&M touched on it earlier... my issue is having to hear the "Jane i did this"..."Mary then said".... "will be late because Sibohan and I". i dont need to hear this in my own home when he & i should be spending time and and making memories together

my main problem is that i have very little faith in my fellow womankind and i dont trust them not to go after my man if they spend enough time with him and reliease truely what a nice guy he is

Daaannngggg.... thats like saying 'you can't have your own friends.' If my wife or I said that to one another or limited to one gender there would be a suddenly single type of person, ya know.. I'm happy that she wants to be herself and have friends and do things on her own and visa-versa.. it makes us appreciate who we have in our life that much more and that quality time we do have together has much more meaning to it.

Right on! Thats exactly what I was trying to say but in fewer words! :)

:D i have my friends and he has his..... his friends happen to be male and mine are female plus his friends :D

as i think about it - i dont have any male friends outside the "our friend" bit which hubby and i share

as i get older... im finding myself more old fashion :11:

I think this problem would be occuring regardless of the activity. Golf, Football, or anything people do together. Just my opinion.

to throw it out there..... i have no problem with chick diving (well i do, trust in navigation concerns me) but i cant recall diving with a male buddy without hubby

after all, didnt i get married so i can spend my time with the one person, having fun and making memories... my hubby

interesting.....

The OP said that he dives with people of the same size and ability level.

Same size?? Since when is this an issue in diving????
