Hmmmm.... Scratching Waxahachie Creek Park off of my list... must be the monfilament line that got me thinking that it wasn't a good idea. :bonk:

Debra,
Here’s a list of North Texas lakes through Texas State Parks-
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/inplains.phtml
If you click on the lake it provides depth and relative clarity.
Thanks for the list. I will keep that in my favorites and try and mark off each one I dive. I would like to try Fairfield. I have heard people have been diving there and i particuarly love this little ditty from the parks department website.

"Inundated timber is abundant in the upper end of the lake and in both coves on the east side. Hydrilla forms a fringe around the reservoir out to approximately 5 feet. Pockets of native pondweed provide openings in the hydrilla and make good ambush points. The heated cove in this power plant cooling lake provides warm water even in the winter. Emergent cattails and cutgrass grow in shallow water on the shoreward side of the hydrilla."

Ahh yes the warm water of a power plant, kind of makes you tingly all over.....

We used to be able to dive Squaw creek. This is the cooling pond for Commanche Nuclear power plant. It has been off limits for sometime know.

Rumor has it that TXU closed down the park, and is in the process of selling off the lake property privately. So do they let the lake glow at Christmas time. HEHEHEHE.

We used to do our New Years Day ride at Fairfield. In the mouth of the powerplant outlet, the water was like 80 degrees in January. Felt really good to hop off and take a dip right there. And I have found all kind of good uses for the extra appendages I've grown since then :)

LOL Jarret!!! :winky2: I think maybe Fairfield may need a a dive or two in the near future.

Troy used to dive there off and on when he taught at AKA Divers. Then 9/11 happened and they closed the property to divers. It was a great place to take people in the winter that you had to get certified but could not make the trip to Balmorhea.

Bo - you doing the Grand Princess in January? I'm booked on that too. Looking for local dive operators in Belize, Majahual, GC, and Coz so I won't be on a cattle boat with "up to 25 other divers" as the nice lady from Princess told me.
I did my diving in Cozumel with Martin. Never had more than 10 divers and twice just 7. I found it quite nice.

My daughter and I certified last year. She is a Jr. Diver and I'm open water. We will be in Waxahachie for a couple of days in August, where would be the best place around to dive? Nothing too deep, just some exploring, and a little more experience?
