DIRECTIONS TO VENICE BEACH: :)
Take I-275 south to I-75. Continue south on I-75 to Exit# 200 (Old 36), Venice/Osprey. That road is RT.681. Stay going south and the road will turn into US 41. Continue to go south on 41 for approximately 2 miles upon which the road will split. Take the business 41 into Venice that’s the way to the right, At the second light turn right onto Venice Ave. Follow Venice Ave to the end and make a left. You should run into it. JPG map from my GPS is too big to upload :(

We have a 2 bedroom for Friday & Saturday (Bringing junior) at the "Venice Beach Resort Appts".
www.venicebeachresort.com.

As of last night when we left they still had 5 appartments available for next weekend. Ask for Joe the owner. Tell him your a member of the scubaboard & he might cut you a break :) as we mentioned the dive party to him.

Not really a resort but very reasonable ($85 to $105 depending on the room) & clean. There is a nice pool on site as well as mini-kitchens in each room (They even supply refridge in each room, plates, glasses, etc) & a Weber propane BBQ availabe to use (Can you say steak?). Joe was very nice and gave us a hose by the pool to wash down all our gear!

We may end up going to Sharky's (Take a left on Harborside Drive South and follow it almost to the end - Across from the airport) to dive as there problably won't be much parking on Alhambra and Sharky's has a ton of spots. Were also bringing 6 Nitrox tanks for ourselves & know where to get air & nitrox refills on the island.

Hope this helps everyone & see you in Venice:-)

If you follow those directions, you won't find us.

Once you are on Venice Ave, turn left on Harbor, then take the 5th right onto Alhambra.

We can easily park 20 (more, but it'll be a longer walk) or so cars at Alhambra which should be plenty. No need to consider a move to Sharky's.

GREAT!!! ***FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ABOVE ONCE YOU HIT VENICE*** (Disclamer) Once I hit Venice Ave my navigation skills (On land) are very limited - I can find water though:D

Very open to diving Alhambra - what time is everyone meeting up?

Should we just look for everyone that has a diveflag?

Details, details:confused: :spaninq:

If I get up off my butt this week I plan on making a sign and stick it on the beach so we can be located easily. Also if you get there and you have a small hike to the beach, drive up to the end and drop you gear off and then go park, that way you don't have to lug gear. Try and leave someone to watch it while you park cuz sometimes gear grows legs and walks off.

Does anyone have one of those canopy things we can pitch on the beach? That would be cool.

Also I am making pasta salad for anyone that wants it, I can't really eat it anymore, but have a box in the cubbard. And I will bring some fresh pineapples for everyone to eat. Il ove fresh pineapple after an ocean dive. Something about the salt water on my lips and the sweet/sour of the pineapple. Yummy!!!!!

I was wondering exactly how we were all going to know who is who..I was planning on looking for WALTER :) And maybe putting a sign in my window that reads VENICE BEACH PARTY...

Someone having a canopy would be cool for after the dive when we are searching for shade..I have several tarps but no longer own anything for what we will be needing...

I was thinking of making some sort of salad being as I will be using 1 of those small kitchens that isn't mine and is limited on utenisls...I will bring what I have left of plastic utensils from the sailing camp trip...(If I make potatoe salad or of that nature it won't have onion in it but on the side as my son won't eat them or anything with them in it raw)...All else fails I may just go to the local Publix and pick up some fruit assortments...
If everyone will post what they are bringing it would be easier on those of us that are indecisive...But suspense and the unknown is always good too..HEHE
Have a great day

I think I have one of those big open canopy assembled thingys that looks like a tent somewhere in the attic. Cindy probably knows better than me...will check on it.

I was looking to purchase one of those things myself. I remember early in the summer everybody had them for 20-30 bucks, but now I can't find one! I might have to settle for my beach umbrella. Hmm 5 of us (3 kids) under one all of a sudden very small umbrella!
Regardless it will be a memorable day.
I just booked a room at the Hampton Inn. Its a mile and a half from the beach, but very reasonable. Kids stay free and it has a free continental breakfast. 1/888/945/9161. Best Western wanted 124/night on the beach.

I made a Scubaboard flag that I can hand off to somebody friday night so it can be displayed early saturday Morning. Any have any ideas on how to display it, where to display it? It looks like a dive flag and says scubaboard.com on it.

I know we have close to 50 folks, how many cars? Who needs a buddy line (Amber I have one reserved for you)? If you're diving, you need a buddy line, a better question is who doesn't have one?

Thank you again Walter! :)

I tore up my right knee. I had an MRI last week and will find out how bad this afternoon, but I know I won't be able to dive this weekend. I'm eating Darvocet like M&M's. Have fun, guys, I'll be there in spirit.;-0
