AM looking for Black USD Horsecollars whose bladders are junk, won't inflate
or leak. My aim is a serious attempt to rebuild vintage horsecollars. This will
entail reproducing plastic parts and who knows what else? I am not interested
in building a business,as there is little or no market for rebuilt horsecollars-they
are sought after by vintage divers only. I intend to begin with USD horsecollars
first. We shall see if I go further. So anyone who has a USD black Horsecollar
which has a junk bladder, and wishes to sell it, It is only to pm me with a price.
I had posted this in classified but had no bites. I need a few horse collars in order
to train myself, and take moulds in order to replicate those parts which have disintegrated with age. Manufacture of new bladders is easy according to
plastics firms I have been in touch with,it is the rebuilding of dump valves,
inflator connections etc, etc. which will be tricky. I hope that those who
have a love for vintage equipment will be willing to help out with info or
direction in the future.I will post to keep people informed as to progress.
Right now I need to buy a few horsecollars. E-bay sucks.
Thanks in advance PORBEAGLE

Yes, and of course any and all success in this project will be shared
by all at cost.So you're looking at rebuilt horsecollars for short money.:D

It would be easier to just make a new one. N

Any reason you are limiting yourself to black ones? They were made in yellow (very common) and blue. The blue and yellow ones I have use the same bladder. I would think the black one would as well unless it was made special for the military.

I had one of the yellow ones which I feel were the most common. I really liked the right side inflation and dump mechanism on them. The bladders were the main issue.
The most commonly needed part besides the bladder would probably be the hose with the special quick connect fitting on the end, most of them I see seem to be missing the hose.

So how many do you want? Do you need the CO2 cartridge for that? will that be cash, check, or charge? :D

Well,that was quick.
1st. Herman, No there is no special reason for black, other than personal choice.
I didn't know they came in blue. But for purposes of test I guess any color is OK.
Captain, Thanks for the tip about the missing hose with the special quick
connect fitting,I'll try to make sure each vest has one.
N. You might very well turn out to be right. But an old vest is vintage and it
would be nice to have one in reliable condition. I dive with a B/P wing,or no
bouyancy device at all and would like to add a vest now and then.Besides,
new horsecollars run over $250. I was hoping a rebuild might cost around $40.
(maybe wishfull thinking).
Hallmac, My guess is that if it's USD then you got a bunch. If so, would you sell
one? to start. One that has that hose the Captain mentioned. And i'd forgotten
about CO2 cartridges. I think a plug would be OK though.
PM me with price and whatever else if you would like to sell.
Thanks to all, PORBEAGLE

By the way, the pictures of the replacement bladder were added so you could see what they look like.
The horse collar in the photos has a fully functional bladder.

It's not a horse collar it's a poddle jacket BC but the LP hose and dump valve and oral inflation hose are the same as on the horse collar.
