i understand your frustration but things like this happen in any business that ships a lot. so you got your gear a day late and had to make some phone calls. definitely a hassle. if you want to eliminate that kind of risk there is always your friendly lds where the item might be in stock and you can pick it up right away for a small built-in convenience charge ;)

i have never had a problem with them. they are always nice and professional. ive returned items because "i didnt like it", and the've worked with me. but i live in city and treat them like an lds. it is much easier to get good service from anyone when you are a standing on their showroom floor. i imagine dealing with them over the net is more difficult. like any small biz im sure they have their problems. because of my satisfaction with them over the years, even after hearing your story, i'd still give them the benefit of the doubt. but obviously i cant speak for you. if your not satisfied let them know. if they wont listen dont do biz with them again. but im guessing by your post you already decided this.

I knew that some shippers wouldn't ship to PO Boxes, that is why I called them before I placed my order. I usually do shop at lds's, this was actually my first online purchase dealing with dive gear. I'm in college now so I figured that I would try and save a few pennies where ever I could... And there was about a $150 difference between lds's and leisure pro so I figured that would be at least one dive.

Sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations with LP. I have ordered a lot of gear from LP and have not experienced your situation so I can't relate but I know it's frustrating. As mentioned earlier, welcome to internet or mail order shopping. Don't think it will always be that way. Give them another chance and if they screw up again then don't trade with them again. There are a number of discount facilities/web based you can trade with via mail order.

I live in NJ and work in NYC so visiting Leisure Pro in person is very easy. I have bought many things from LP with great success. I have also had items shipped to my home, and never had a problem. Overall I am quite pleased with their service.

You are more then welcome to visit your LDS who hopefully will serve you and you will be happy with them. To be honest I have had greater success with LP then my Local Dive Shops, but thats a whole other thread in its own. When http://www.diveshopreviews.com is launched this may be of help to some people. :)

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with them.

I have purchased a regulator, 2 computers, and some other accessories from them with no problems, so far.

Don Burke once bubbled...

You are dealing with people who don't get paid very much and have a lot to do.

Unlike dive shop employees who don't get paid very much and DON'T have a lot to do.

Sorry to hear things didn't go exactly as planned, but it sounds to me like you're over reacting. At the end of the day all you had to do was make a couple of phone calls - no big deal. I suspect you'd do it all over again to save the $150 . . .

Out of curiousity, why didn't you place the order over the phone at the time you confirmed the shipping method? You would have a name associated with that part of the transaction (rather than having a different person who manages the web orders play with it)?

Also, when you called them to verify the shipping method, did you tell them what you would be ordering? As I understand it, small items can be shipped by mail, but not the items requiring a signature.

Perhaps you could post which of the shippers listed on the LP web page (other than the obvious one, the post office itself) that you are aware that ship to PO boxes. Again, this is high value gear, requiring a signature.

As for a refund, you are aware of their policy that says you may return gear within 14 days for a no questions asked return, right? The only thing you don't get back is shipping charges either direction.

Out of curiousity, would you really not use them again? I'd take a little pain such as you did in order to save the $150.

So far, the poll is 42 people choosing the first choice, and I'm one of em.

Good luck!

Yeah, you guys are probobly right...I probobly did over react. Should have waited a few hours before posting this. It seems to be all straightened out and should be shipped to the proper address. Looking good so far! I didn't order because I was still trying to decide on the BC, ranger vs. escape. Decided I didn't need as much bc as the ranger offered. And yes, I probobly would do it all over again...

thanks, and my apologies for my over reaction!
