Oooh Oooh!!! How do I join the SDLPS club????

Diverlady

Me too, me too!

My husband can always find me in the mass of blue male divers by my pink arm stripes and pink headband :D

Now if it came in Hello Kitty, even better! If it works just as well as the boring stuff, and it makes you smile - go for it!

Color is a good thing. Sadly, most of what fits me is either black or gray.

I actually really like the black and silver. I was going for black and blue, but got my Volos, and they're pretty!! They make really nice pictures when harbor seals are chewing on them. Also seem to attract teeth more, for better or for worse. Now I want the whole ensemble to match! Heh heh.

Can't do pink, I'm afraid. Yellow is one thing, but I've always hated pink and likely always will. Very visible, get em if you like them, but blech. I associate with the color of healthy internal organs.

The question is, if I go black and silver, am I going to look too much like a nice edible fish?

Not really, but you could get beaten up by a Denver Broncos fan ;)

Maybe it's hormones, maybe it's marketing, but suddenly I'm seeing visions of pink fins.

I have NEVER wanted pink fins. Okay, my beloved Mares Avanti Quattros ARE neon green. But they are my only piece of colored gear, practically. And they're easy to spot underwater. (As well as above ....:))

But a chance encounter with a pair of full-foot fins has changed my life: excellent power, no booties, no hassle. Mares Avanti Quattro Power in metal grey is, was, my first choice. But then I stumbled across a pair of "flamingo" and black Avanti Tre.

Flamingo. Balmy Florida. Plastic lawn ornaments. Foam and plastic curlers.

Girly gear.

The last thing a dignifed diver needs, especially one who already wears Divegoddess skins. :) Then again.....Who wants to be another drone, one of the all-black masses? (No DIR slur intended.)

How many women -- and men -- here wear pink fins? How many would consider it? Do other divers make fun of you? Do you care? Do clothes make the man? Do fins make the diver?

There's a t-shirt around with a great slogan: Talk softly, but dress loudly.

Maybe I ought to reconsider those flamingo fins.....

Colour is good, colour is wonderful, express yourself, have fun, be yourself, who cares what other people think? I have a blue framed mask, an indigo snorkel, and blue fins. I have a black wetsuit because it was a bargain and my funds are limited. If I could afford it, I would have all sorts of gear in all sorts of colours to suit my mood, from basic black to flamingo pink! Just do it!

Pink isn't so bad. I found a 3mm wetsuit on clearance at a jetski store. Mens L in pink and black (lots of pink). $200 suit for $20. It fit (except for the extra fabric in the lower front area) and couldn't pass it up. On a recent dive trip, I got teased about the suit "glowing". But during one dive, one pair of divers got separated from the group. Vis was about 30-40'. They began swimming in the general direction the group was going and they told me the first thing they could make out was my pink suit. No more teasing after that.
As for color coordination, my fins are neon green.

I just wanted to say that after a terrific weekend in Brockville, I have apprenticed myself to diverlady and I'm going pink. So far it's only my snips and computer lanyard, but it's a start.

I have two pairs of fins, both pink. Also a pink mask, pink snorkel, pink knife, pink dive light, pink MX-5 camera, two pink/black wetsuits, and a pink/black gear bag. Why not? It's fun, makes me laugh (especially since I'm not a girlie girl... I'd never wear pink topside, ever), and it's a good ice-breaker on dive boats. Besides, the pink drops out of the color spectrum pretty quickly underwater, anyway.

explain to me WHY you care what other people think about your funkadelic fins, again? Fins are fins. Go for the coolest, best, ugliest. Whatever you want. It doesnt matter what other people think. YOU GO FOR THINGS YOU LIKE!
