Hello,

I stupidly lost a pair of scubapro seawing gorilla XL fins that I need to replace.

Since I almost only do frogkick, I was planning to adapt my equipment accordingly and go for more tek-oriented fins but I'm 6' 7" and my boots are 48 europe (i guess it's 13,5 / 14 US, i use heavyduty dive boot 6,5 from scubapro in 4XL) and it's a bit of a hassle to find fins suitable. I only use a waterproof SD combat for cold waters dive and haven't plan to buy a drysuit in a close futur (maybe when i'll get older ^^). The footpocket of the seawing gorilla was fine to me but these fins were also quit buoyant.

I already tried mares avanti quattro +, but i found the footpocket too small and i didn't like the sensation during the dive. For freediving, i use full foot fins mares avanti quattro power but they are huge. Apart from my mares i've never tried negative buoyancy fins.

I read a lot of thread speaking great about deep 6 eddy but we can't found them in Europe :'(.

I was looking at the tecline lightjet but it seems of what i read that the foot pocket is not that big even in XL size.

Do you have any advice on any fins that could be nice and suitable (S-Tek from scubapro / apeks RK3 / .... ) ?

Thanks a lot !
I have the XL Apex RK3 and the XL Techline Powerjets. The Techline have massive foot pockets in comparison to the Apex.

oh yeah good to know. I try myrk3 last week. i have size 13 + ( actually the booties are 14, the 13 didn't fit). anyway i am ok but i had the remove the spring strap it was too short from me.

I have all 3, I wear size 15 shoes, I change the bungee on the SP fins to fit me better and I also use longer spring straps on the Zeagle.
Lexvil, Need advice on potential purchase of Zeagle Recon fin and we have similar foot sizes ..... I wear sz 14 street shoe. Have a Bare Trilam Dry suit with their 4XL (Sz 13-14.5 ) integrated hard sole boots. Tops are compressed neoprene. I am currently using Force Fins Pro, sz XXXL designed for Commander of Navy Seal team with a sz 15 foot. I like the force fins. Want to tryout the Recons.

a) Would you anticipate the Zeagle XL foot pocket would fit?

b) If longer heel spring is needed where might I purchase one? Thank you in advance. Doug

I would recommend Piranha for the heel springs. They have a multitude of lengths. I wear a size 14 shoe, as well, and the Deep6 Eddies in XXL were actually too big and I was wearing Chuck Taylors. They are a great fin.

Fin size has never been a problem for me and I wear a 15. Dry suit boots were an issue, but I was able to get pair of size 16 Hollis rock boots. They may be discontinued. Most open fins come in a 2XL size. I don't even consider buying a close foot, those are almost guaranteed to not exist.

My current fin is the Aqualung phazer XXL that I picked up on clearance about a year ago. I haven't tried them with my Rock boots, though.

This is hard to speak to, I don’t know about the Bare built in boot but guessing that they didn’t go crazy with size it should work in the XL Recon.

You are in Fl. According to your profile, if you can go to these guys Scuba Diving Gear | Zephyrhills, FL with you suit and check fit, they may also have longer springs but Piranha is also in Fl. And they have springs.

Good luck
