He has a great location and as you all know, the first rule of retail is location, location, location.

That's the deal right there.

shark.byte.usa:
$60 bucks, :rofl3: you obviously haven't shopped at scuba sciences. :D

*silence. Tumbleweeds. Wolf howls*

Ah... nope. Guess I'll have to save for a coupla more years so I can buy safe equipment from the safe dive shop so I can dive in the safe ocean.

And I was so looking forward to koolaid and safety... :(

Make sure you drink from a safety cup with a lid and straw. Don't want you to spill. :D

I need to go clean my keyboard. Unfortunately, I wasn't using one of those safety cups while reading this thread!

Righto! I always use a sippy cup which is spill proof.

Or one of those beer helmets which hold two cups at once, leaving my hands free.

It's expensive koolaid, from what I deduced based upon SharkByte's snicker at my suggestion that we might find some $60 fins whilst sipping.

I don't think they have any kool-aid left over there. From what I understand (and I could be wrong on this one), Sciences gave DIR and GUE the boot.

...Probably not safe enough!

:D Not that Kool-Aid! Their own special brew! ;) I don't know if they gave them the boot or they just don't have an instructor available, their DIR/GUE webpage is still up. Last time I talked to Art & Karen, they indicated that there wasn't any instruction locally anymore and you'd have to go to CA for the class, which based on my research is true. Maybe the demand is high enough elsewhere that they can't get an instructor to come out. This is all far beyond my local knowledge. Doesn't seem like a course they would promote all that much anyway, kindof gets away from their expert/divecon course agendas.

No... the instructors will come. They just haven't been invited.

I believe the reason has to do with the sorta thing that we have been discussing in this thread.

Ahhh well you would know better than I, I've looked on GUE's website the last couple years and never saw a (dir-f) class scheduled in AZ.

Wouldn't suprise me, can you see Paul supporting DIR classes :D, and like I said it probably conflicts with their SSI expert/divecon course agendas, it's not something I ever heard promoted when I was there.

They actually had one at Sciences. Karen C put together a DIRF shortly after the one I set up for our shop unravelled.

As far as I know they only had one and though I have heard from a reliable source why they didn't continue I really don't have any first hand knowledge.
