Suex have three new scooters aimed at the cheap(er) end of the market. These are shorter than “normal’ at 50cm/2ft long but have the stated performance of most other scooters (let’s ignore the high end here).

Am asking for a friend about people’s experiences about these — if any — and any opinions.

There’s three versions which all seem to have the same case and controls (please correct me if I’ve misinterpreted the specs as the Suex.it website sucks donkey balls). The website which does work and describes them reasonably well is the UK-based DirDirect site.

Struggling to discover:
  • Cost of new batteries (to compare with the Blacktip)
  • Difference between the Quantum and Voyager (there seems to be a carrying bag included, appears to be no difference with the performance)
  • Whether or not the entry level Nemo can be upgraded to a Quantum by sticking in better batteries or if the motor’s weaker (software?)

As near as I know the only difference between the Nemo, Quantum, and Voyager is in the battery compartment and they can be freely swapped (all it takes is $$$). The difference in cost puts the Voyager directly in competition with the Seacraft GO! I just put up another post to compare the Voyager with the Go. It's here if anyone is interested: Seacraft GO! vs. Suex VR Voyager

Here are the specs for the three models.

That means the Voyager is the most expensive and has crappy batteries. It seems to come with a large travel case

Dirdirect prices, the only ones I've found, are including 20% VAT tax:
  • Nemo £2,610
  • Quantum £3,138
  • Voyager £3,870 - includes a “travel” case
If the bodies are identical — the weights are identical at 11.7kg — then the entry level one has inferior batteries which are replaced for £528 in the Quantum and the “travel” batteries are special expensive ones.

Seems to be too much marketing horse crap at the moment.

Cruise speed: 45m/min for all
Max speed: 70m/min for all
Runtime: 110; 220; 130 mins
Range (claimed): 5km; 10km; 6km
Range = 45 x RT = 4,950; 9,900; 5,850

However, we all know that range is very dependent upon streamlining, trim and other factors.

I posted in @bradStyle's thread.

In short, the Go! looks like the clear winner and choice to buy over any of these new Suex scooters.

If you look at the specs, then yes. But I'd try both before making a final decision.

Absolutely! Try them both - if you can.

But, 130 minutes runtime.... That is what my BlackTip gets...

To me, that Suex would simply not be an option. Unless it was very close to the same cost as a BlackTip.

Specs might not be a reason to choose one. But, they are definitely a reason you could strike one off the list.

That's the "Voyager" sort of travel version. The "Quantum" does 220 mins (allegedly)

Still would like someone who's seen the new Suex scooters. I did see them at the UK dive show, but as I'm not looking for another scooter, didn't bother to feel one. Now "a friend" is interested, wondered if anyone else has felt a Suex?

Also when the delivery time might be; the Seacraft Go! is notoriously hard to buy and seems to get more expensive as time passes.

When's Boot? Suex should have a stand there and some Scubaboard members should be there.

More likely smaller batteries with lead to ensure the weight is the same so it remains neutral.

I have been told by a dealer friend that the Go! were hard to get at first, but that they are now readily available.
