rjack321:Oh ok, but realize I'm following everything in the DSAT DVD to a T now![]()
RiverRat:I had some problems doing some skills mid-water as the other diver could not hold position. Not uncommon with mis-matched skillsets.
rjack321:RiverRat, While I'd dive with Jeff or Steve anyday I have an established "relationship" with them. I'm sure we'd have quite a ruckus.
In your case, I'd probably pause based on the attitude shown in the quote above. You had some problems in mid-water because of you. Sure having a lesser skilled teammate makes things tougher. But you are responsible for your own bouyancy (and other skills) regardless of who you're teamed up with. Blaming someone else for your difficulties is not DIR.

catherine96821:In the end, if divers want to play al a carte with DIR, I don't see how that can be stopped if the Instructors can do it in their business model. (which suits me just fine) It's just a big continuum, as I see it.
catherine96821:because it's a logical question, it doesn't mean I can't accept the answer or that I don't think DIR is "a good system"...just because you question part of the delivery.
The answer was basically that the economics require some of the DIR Instructors to dive non-DIR recreational divers in a way different from their team philosophy. ......
